Jamil Terrell, the junior college forward who was at the center of the St. Bonaventure basketball scandal in 2003, has signed a contract to play for the Niagara Daredevils, an American Basketball Association team based in St. Catharines, Ont.
The Daredevils are in the same ABA division as the expansion Buffalo Rapids, who will play their games in the Flickinger Athletic Center at Erie Community College. The Daredevils and Rapids will play in St. Catharines on Nov. 27 and Dec. 10, and at ECC on Jan. 6 and Jan. 20. The Daredevils' training camp roster also includes Niagara Falls native Dewitt Doss, who graduated last year from Canisius.
Terrell played for Bona during the 2002-03 season after attending Coastal Georgia Community College. He was declared academically ineligible late in the season when it was learned he earned a certificate of welding rather than the NCAA-mandated associate's degree from the junior college. He played last season at Division II West Texas A&M.
