Vinny Pezzimenti's article in the Times (10/29/05) about coach Hagen is well done.....I think this is the essence of college sports, dedication, lead by example, and playing for the of the love of the game. I know this will not work in the "major sports" because we the fans demand winning to validate success. However, at SBU the price of winning seems to lower the standard of character which we will tolerate for a few wins....I should change that and remove SBU and insert college sports, I think we all understand the cost of winning.
The price we pay to have an instant winning program is well known to Bona fans and the sports world in general.
Coach Hagen appears to be a fine citizen, father, husband, compassionate about life and people. The type of individual we should read about in the press. He is a great tribute to the moral fiber of Bona athletics and the principle foundations of the university.
