:-/I don't know about you but I just can't seem to get too excited about the upcoming season. I hate to admit it but it is true. While I don't have one particular reason for this feeling it probably centers around the off-season behvior of some team members. Additionally, the outlook for the team doesn't look real good. I am not a fair weather fan. I have been their for about 44 years. Never have I felt this way. Never!! Maybe I have lost confidence in the coaches ability to coach and recruit. We are recovering from dark times.
Grant it is the only game in town and we should show support for the Bonnies. There is no doubt about it we need to support SBU. At least for this year I won't have a problem giving my tickets away if the season goes sour or if something else is going on. I hope the Brown Indians prove me wrong and change my attitude!

Yeah, I'm excited! Of course, I'm always excited at the beginning of a season. I do think this is a make or break year for the Bonnies though. I don't expect miracles but am expecting the team to be much more competitive at least in the non-conference schedule. Going into last season, I thought it was the least talented team I had seen at Bonaventure in years - maybe for as long as the 30 years that I've been following the team. Even with my low expectations, I was disappointed in the team's play at the beginning of the season. It wasn't just that the the team was losing but that it played without focus. Lack of defense. The quick substitutions. Ineptness aginst the press. All of those things made me want to tune the team out. Before I did though, the team seemed to make some strides at the end of the season and I liked the way this team stuck together and battled at the end. As a fan, I went from being embarrassed by the team to being proud of the team. With Smith, Lee, Lottin, and Dunston, this years team has some decent talent. Unlike Friar, I have confidence in the coaching staff's ability to recruit. Like Friar, I'm not convinced about the abilities to coach and get the most out of the team. This season will be telling as far as that goes. A 10 win season is my expectation. If we win more than that, I think the future bodes very well. Less, I think it will be a long 4 years and the Solomon reign will remind me of the DeCarli years. Great men - not so great coaches.

Donovan,Weise,Satalin and Baron needed 3 or 4 years to succeed. OBrien won his first 2 years with Satalins players and then went downhill with his recruits. If Solomon has a good year they will extend his contract. If he doesnt get an extension they are thinking about replacing. Thats the way it goes.

I can't wait until the season begins. Anxious for Friday, so I can get my first glimpse of the team. I remember Vinny Pezzimenti wondering if the Bonnies "could possibly have the most improved win-loss record in the nation." He optimistically anticipated 14 to 15 wins, noting the team's improved lineup. Should we expect 15 wins? Of course not, but 8 to 10 wins is a reasonable expectation, especially considering our out of conference schedule. It is a veteran team, with size and more experience at the critical point guard position. I'm just anxious to see the team show improvement this year.
