After many years of watching his teams protect the ball and be one of the leaders in the nation for fewest turnovers it seems an appropriate answer to our present problems would be to pay him to come in for a week, either now or in the off season as an "adjunct professor" in establishing his coaching philosophy and techniques in this area. It would be a great experience for our team to learn from one of the masters.

Part of Coach Chaney's shtick after each visit to the RC - aside from his remarks about alcoholic Catholics - was his intense dislike of the... let's call them "unpretentious" accommodations in Olean. Many will remember his interview with Jeff D'Alessio in which he called Bona the worst road trip in the A-10.
The man has made his money, he likes urban life and urban living and deserves to live in his idea of comfortable surroundings. I don't think the cheesesteaks at Allegany Sub are up to his standards.

unfortunately Allegany Sub shop is now closed and replaced by a Christian Bookstore of all things. Something tells me John Chaney will not be helping BOnaventure cure their turnover issues

I had the privilege of working at the Castle Inn during the late 80's and early 90's. While Coach Chaney may have hated the trips to Olean/Allegany because of the weather and some facilities (granted the Castle was not the Hyatt), he was always one of our favorite A-10 coaches. He treated the staff well, kept his players under control, and always told us we had "the best breakfast in the A-10. " He's a class act.
