I currently work of a gentlemen that has a GED. Tim quit high school and started working at 16. After kicking around odd jobs for three years Tim went back and got his GED and entered a junior college. After getting his associates, Tim transfered to Oklahoma State and proceded to get his undergraduate, masters, and PhD. The point I'm trying to make is, for whatever reason Lex did not finish highschool. Maybe, just maybe he grew up a little, said to himself, "self, I'm really tall, this flipping burgers thing ain't gonna get me any bling-bling. Maybe I'll try playing ball in college, worse case I get an associates out of the deal and become a manager at this hell hole". The thing is, does ANYONE think, after all this...stuff that's happen lately, they are not going to be really, really cautious? Does anyone know Lex major? Or his GPA? Or whether he has graduated or not? Those are the important details of this, NOT that he doesn't have a "high school diploma"!

I don't know his major, GPA, or anything else....I think we're all tempering our enthusiasium, or we should be, given the events of two years ago.
Two years ago, I would've thought that Wick and Co. would be "really cautious" as well.
I'm not saying anything negative about the current staff, etc, just that we're all a little jittery about anything concerning this program right now.

Lex grew up in one of the worst neighborhoods in NYC. East New York is where Mike Tyson was robbing people at the tender age of 14. They are so cute at that age. It must have been extremely difficult being a 6'9 kid who keeps his nose clean to avoid trouble. I'm sure he was harassed often by 5'8 drug dealers with Napoleon complex. His high school was eventually shut down because their graduation rates were 3 or 4 percent. That's not a typo. His brother also has some learning disorders that he is getting help with. So, it was probably a combination of things that lead to him dropping out. Either way Lex seems like a good kid who deserves a chance. Hopefully, Lex will be a feel-good story for SBU. I don't follow SBU basketball, but I will be rooting for Lex this upcomming season. Good luck.

I give the kid alot of credit for just getting his GED. Hopefully his JUCO grades were good and he was in-line with everything.

I agree Magnusbu, let's give him credit where credit is due. A word to the new recruits, play hard, play smart, and play as a team and you will see a community embrace you like no other. Bonas has a way of appreciating it's players seldom seen at large Universities; you become part of the "family." I for one am very excited about the future of St. Bonaventure Basketball.

If this team plays as hard as last years team did then we are going to surprise a lot of teams this season. That is what I like about Solomon as a coach. He gets them to play hard and with a little bit of talent this will add up to some very successful seasons.
