ESPN's Chris Lawlor reports Brett Roseboro, a 6-foot-10 freshman post from Quakertown (Pa.) High, is headed to St. Bonaventure after being released from his scholarship at Marquette last week. Roseboro will be eligible immediately for the 2009-10 season.
Roseboro orignally considered the Bonnies last year but opted for Marquette after an official visit. Most recently Roseboro reconsidered fellow Atlantic 10 schools Rhode Island and Temple before choosing Coach Mark Schmidt's squad.
Roseboro's cited a lack of playing time as a factor in his decision to transfer.
He joins a six-member class of newcomers that includes three players who sat out last season, two juco transfers and an athletic 6-6 freshman swingman Demetrius Conger of Covenant Christian Academy (Ga.), who is originally from Brooklyn, N.Y.

Below is probably why he eventually opted out of Marquette:
MILWAUKEE-Marquette head coach Buzz Williams announced the team’s 2009 recruiting class on Tuesday. The five-player class consists of JUCO transfer Dwight Buycks and incoming freshmen Junior Cadougan, Erik Williams, Jeronne Maymon, and Brett Roseboro.
The class checks in at No. 2 in the country according to Hoopmasters and Hoopscoop, while it ranks 14th and 15th by Rivals and Scout, respectively.

How long before Roseboro becomes officially a Bonnie? Sounds like a great pick up for the Brown and White!

Will it be official, when classes start?
One would think that if someone see's him on campus this weekend it would be unofficially official. Hard to miss him, tall, red-head......where are our students?

Hard to miss him, tall, red-head......where are our students? It's official. Michelle Kent has been running around to professors the past few days asking if they'll let Roseboro into classes since it's so late in the summer and most classes have been filled for months now. So, I'd take that as official.

Michelle Kent is from Hinsdale, so she is a reliable source. I think her great grandfather was our milkman. He made it to our house no matter what the weather was. If Kent says it's so, take her word.

And did it ever occur to you that Michelle wasn't my source???

I wonder what Roseboro did to piss off this writer. What a negative piece, complete with words like "struggling" and "fruitlessly" in the headline and byline alone. What really got me, though, was how down Roseboro was on his own game. I have all the confidence in the world in him, but I hope he does, too. Still, if he can do no more than grab a handful of boards and open up the defense for Andrew to face single coverage inside over 24 minutes a game, he'll have done his job. His upside is a ways beyond that.

Everyone is making too much of an issue over Roseboro being overwhelmed at Marquette. He is practicing against players from a nationally ranked team. Nationally ranking occurs, because Marquette recruits the best players in the nation. From Marquette official site "MU's first recruiting class under Williams is currently ranked first in the nation by HoopScoopOnline.com and third by Hoopmasters.com. The group is No. 11 on ESPN.com's list, 13th on PrepStars.com, rated 17th overall by Rivals.com and owns the 17th position on Scout.com's top-25 ranking." Is it a surprise Brett being overwhelmed against this type of competition? Getting a dose of humility is a good thing for Brett. He went to Marquette with unrealistic aspirations. He refused to accept other BCS schools recommendation of red shirting a year for development. He signs with a head coach who never saw him play and an assistant coach who saw him play in only tournaments. As for the Bonnies things could not have worked better. Before Marquette's outrageous offer, Brett's final 3 were West Virginia, St. John's and Temple. The Bonnies were discarded a long time ago with BCS schools recruiting him. Now the Bonnies get a talented big man, who now has a more accurate perception of his game. www.gomarquette.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/042709aab.html
