USA Today has the Orangemen ranked #1. When was the last time the Bonnies played the #1 team in the country? I remember Ohio State!! The fact is, this is the Bonnies, and Mark Schmidts', biggest game since Kentucky. Watching the Bonnies the other day, I shaw Coach slap the table over a miscue made by one of the Bonnies. There were 13 minutes left in the second half, and Savannah St had yet to score! Coach is chomping at the bit for this one. So are the players. He came here, and recruited them here, for just this occasion. This is a special season (Christmas)...and there are many that believe in "special things" happening with the Bonnies over the years. It's been a long time...but, like Coach says, they aren't going up there to lose. If the Bonnies believe what Coach is telling them and they can get into the "blue zone"...this game will long be talked about by all Bonnie fans....young and old. My grandkids will be telling their grandkids......."Well...yeah..I remember back in "09...when we went up to Syracuse....and they were the #1 team at the time....and....man did we play a game..........."

I am not sure about Alabama, but wasn't UMASS #1 with Camby in 96? The double OT game with Tim Winn going crazy as a freshman. Also, I am pretty sure RI was #1 with Odom in 98 when they came to the RC. Maybe not, but they were definitely top 5. I will never forget watching Lamar make jumpers from half court look routine in warmups. Also, the look of death he gave the guy standing behind me as he was screaming "colorful" remarks at him. Terrifying.

I'm pretty sure St. Joe's was #1 during the 2004-2005 season when they beat us by about 50.

I'm pretty sure St. Joe's was #1 during the 2004-2005 season when they beat us by about 50. They were definitely ranked #1 in the country when we played them the last regular season game of the year at their place. It was the 03-04 season. If I'm not mistaken that was the last time the Bonnies were seen on national television as well.

How could I forget SJ. For some reason I thought we played them earlier in the year before they were #1. You are right though, it was definitely the last game of the year, and a thorough beat down.

Hermit - hope you are right and the team is on tomorrow night. Going to take a total team effort with a couple of individuals bests to get a W.
Both Sagarin and Pomeroy are projecting 24 point wins for the Orange. I would think anything under 20 would be a good showing for the Bonnies - but then there's that 2nd place trophy thing that could help motivate the Bonnies.
Let's hope Syracuse comes out flat as they are looking pass SBU and are focused on the Christmas break and the start of the BE season on on 12/29 away at the (8-0) Hall.
Go Bonas!
