Got to love Bobby Knight telling it like it is regarding Coach Cal. This guy will have the same problem with Kentucky that he had at UMass and Memphis. Kentucky sold their soul to the devil when they hired him. If anyone wants to read a great book, try and find "Season on the Brink" written back in the early 80's. When I was a kid back in the 60's, I remember a friend of mine went to a basketball camp at Stony Brook and was telling me about this coach from West Point who told a bunch of campers that he chose his starting 5 by the players who shed the most blood during practice. Yep- That was a young Robert Knight. Would have loved to have seen him bring his squad up to Olean to take on the Bonnies when we had Lanier or when we had the NIT team with Essie.

Knight's Army team beat the Bonnies in the opening round of the 1964 NIT played in the Garden...on a last second shot.

I was at that game at the old garden......we drove from Bona's (before Rt 17 was a highway) leaving at around 5pm (sort of an unplanned spur of the moment thing)....seven of us in my roommate's 1955 (?) Pontiac convertible. We get to the city around midnight, with our only plan to find out what hotel the team was in and sleep in the lobby. We found the hotel, but we got thrown out of the lobby....so we slept in the car.....the next morning we got some weird looks as these seven guys hop out of this car.
Yes we lost the game, but the memories of the road trip will forever be remembered, (somewhat altered over time), but still remembered.

I was listening to Mike Francessa on WFAN in NY today, and he played some of Bobby Knight's comments and also what Calapari said. Francessa wondered why Knight singled out Calipari when there have been other cheats. He did comment on how Knight ran very clean programs.
He made one very good comment which has been stated numerous times on this board.....that the NCAA only picks on the up and coming programs, the samall ones, not the big guys. He did not expect Calipari to have trouble at Kentucky because it is a big school.

Coach Knight doesn't like Coach Cal because of the time Cal and Chaney got into it up at UMass.

Army received one vote in the AP poll this week. They must have a good team.

They (Army) are doing great considering they fired their coach about a month before the season started and hired a great up and coming coach in Coach Spiker about 2 weeks before the season started.
