I thought the bonnies played tough. Too bad we lost AN, game would of been closer. I think we are getting better as the A-10 season approaches.
Keep shooting Matthews. Conger looked good. He is going to be a player. Hall played good.
Nice job Bonnies. Beat the Purple Eagles.

i thought something special could be brewing when the Bonnies took a 3 pt lead. ultimately, a solid showing.
some constructive criticism for Eleby: don't shoot.

Call me crazy but when you shoot 22% from 3 point range; lose the board battle by 11; shoot 50% from the line; let the other guys shoot 56% and give up 85 points, how is that called playing good??

Its good because we were in the game and lost to a Top 5 team in the country by 13 in their house.

Call me crazy but when you shoot 22% from 3 point range; lose the board battle by 11; shoot 50% from the line; let the other guys shoot 56% and give up 85 points, how is that called playing good?? Talk about taking selective stats. Well how about these selective stats? 1. Prior to tonight's game Syracuse was 3rd in the nation with a 26.3 point margin. Bonnies lost by 13. 2. Syracuse is 6th in the nation with a 35.7% field goal percentage on defense. Bonnies shot 46.2% against their defense. 3. Syracuse has the 62nd rank defense with points allowed giving up 61.7 ppg. Bonnies scored 72 points. 4. Bonnies 13 point lost, is the second closest game for Syracuse this year beating Florida by 12. Syracuse beat North Carolina by 16. All of the above is even more impressive when you consider it was accomplished without Andrew for the last 10 minutes of the game. Bonnies played good is an under statement. web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv/ranksummary

Hate to pile on az63 but you did ask for verification as to why this could be called a “good game.” Chuck certainly makes the case but allow me to add a few more reasons why a Bona fan would call this a “good game.”
We had more fast break points, 4 fewer TOs (2 below our season average), more assists, more points off TOs (21 to their 14) & matched them on the offensive glass. Considering that we were playing a very solid top 5 team, I would say this was a VERY GOOD GAME by our Bonnies. They were well coached & prepared for this one & did not show any of the Mississippi State, deer in headlights characteristics in front of 20,000 + on the road. I'm proud to say, Well Done Bonnies!

Thank you Chuck and wgt, reality check for the Bonnie faithful. This game was a huge plus and a major step forward for the Brown and White. One has to leave this game with a clear eye on the light at the end of the preverbial tunnel, Schmidt and Company are definitely going in the right direction. Niagara will be a huge road victory for the Bonnies, and a real Little Three rival match up. Go Bona's!

Bonnies did play well tonight. I did not like the 4 guard lineup to start, but I guess it worked out alright. Nicholson's senior year we might have the pieces to take Cuse. That is of course if the refs dont find any "flagrant fouls."

I thought Bonas played a great game and could have won if Matthews wasn't forced to shoot so far from the basket. When a team like SU can guard you that far out and still prevent the inside pass, they're good, real good.

Great job by Coach Schmidt and the Bonnies. Clearly, coach erased any lingering thoughts of Miss. St. from their minds and had them ready to play - in the Dome, in front of a hostile crowd, against a team which is one of the best in the country and is on a big-time roll. LOVED reading the comments from the Syracuse players this a.m. about what a physical game the Bonnies gave them - calling it their most physical game of the season. Andrew's 'mistake' aside, I think this was a big game for him and I think his early success against 'cuse's talented forwards will pay dividends for the rest of the season.

Nice to see my post got the stats guys earning their pay.
wgt, I always respect your posts so no need to apologize for piling on. I got hit hard by someone when I suggested that we wait and see regarding Lewis Leonard's signing. Also got taken to task for posting about the fact that 3 former Bona greats had spoken to Coach Schmidt numerous times about their attachment to the Rucker and a program they headed up which would help Bona recruit good, qualified inner city players - so not to worry.
It does bother me however when posters use terms like good, very good, great after a 13 point loss. What's next, a couple of new cheers - "We beat the spread" - "We lost by less than the 'Heels."
You want good - how about Richmond wins @ Florida - how about ODU wins @ G'town. By the way Richmond also beat Miss St. earlier this year.
I guess I'm just real frustrated when we finally get one terrific player like Andrew and surround him with the Gang that Can't Shoot Straight and point guards that play like they have have gloves on.
OK, I'm done venting for the year!!!!!
Hope everyone has a great Christmas and an outstanding 2010.

You'll find a few who share this sentiment. Including me. Though I am encouraged Michael Davenport can develop into a good A-10 guard before he's done. Good guards can beat great guards with a dominant big man. But, below average guards can't.

Gotta say I am impressed that the Bonnies hung in the game. I do, however, wonder when it will no longer be okay to lose close to a good team. It is encouraging that our deficit was less than the defending nation champions, but at some point we are going to have to beat a team we aren't supposed to. Not saying I expect W's over Cuse, but our biggest upset this year can't be Richmond again. We really needed to win either the St. John's, Miss. St. or Cuse game to have any shot at the NIT. We aren't going to get in by having an above .500 record when all of our wins came against teams outside of the RPI top 150.
On another note, I do like that Syracuse players were quoted saying this was by far the most physical game they played all year. That's exactly what you gotta do when you play a team that thinks they will beat you by simply putting their jersey on. You need to get out there and hit them in the mouth, or balls in Andrew's case...
I'm encouraged but not yet satisfied.
