In 18 minutes of PT, Demetrius Conger scored 8 points, was 3 of 5 from the field, which included a 3 pointer. He had a steal, an assist and a rebound. He made things happen when he was on the court. Even the Syracuse announcers noticed Demetrius. Really like his potential. Hopefully this game earned him more playing time in the immediate future. rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/boxscore?gid=200912190553

I am impressed too. He is getting more and more playing time for a good reason, Conger is going to be a factor in this seasons success. Between Conger and Davenport we have two sold young players to add to the professor Nicholson contingent of young studs on the court. They bang the boards and score from inside and the 15, I believe other young guns will appear as the season evolves. But I could not agree with you more, Conger is a huge plus!

Impressed with Conger everytime I have seen him play & was the reason I questioned his no mins against Le Moyne.
Tonight I thought his end to end drive while being hounded the entire length of the floor was special. He also had an impressive lob pass that he dunked softly & another thunderous followup dunk on a missed Ogo drive. That was called off because Ogo was fouled on the shot. He's taking good shots, has only 6 TOs on the season & although he hasn't demonstrated it I think he will develop a good trey shot. Solid from the stripe at 80% & gets there a lot due to his aggressive drives to the hole with strength, speed & elevation. He will be some player & at this early stage shows great court smarts. After Andrew's foul that caused the ejection, a cuse player got in his face & he didn't back down. He isn't intimidated & plays maturely as a frosh.

I'm also impressed, especially with his passes. He's very aware of what's going on around him - not at all freshman-like. I think both him and Simmons have to be worked into the lineup more. I think it will come at the expense of playing time for both Cook and Eleby.

I hate to rain on this parade. Conger made a horrible pass out of the corner with about 3 minutes left in the first half. The pass was intercepted, the player scored and the game turned on that very dime. Watson said it was a freshman mistake but clearly turned the game in favor of Syracuse. Still, one could not ask for a better effort from Conger.

I like what I have seen from CONGER too, the past 2 games he seems to be playing with more confidence. I kind of like what I have seen from SIMMONS too. I would like to see more of ROSEBORO too but with the shoulder and now appendix it must be frustrating for him too. I think overall Coach SCHMIDT and staff have done a fantastic job but I am disappointed to an extent that we have not recruited more A10 calibar guards. I have hopes for AGEE and CARTER but AGEE was mainly recruited by lower D1 schools and we kind of got CARTER by defaul with RICHMOND and LASALLE choosing guards over him. I know we can occassionally get overlooked recruits who come to a higher level in college but I don't think we can get to the next level doing this too often.

With all this talk about Conger I was confused. But then I realized you meant the Birdman. Of course you are impressed. Hes been fantastic. He goes hard to the tin and makes smart decisions and plays with energy. When I make my trip to Olean i will be flapping my wings because the Birdman is that good.
PS Mad Dog Simmons is a beat too.
