YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Eastern Michigan athletic director Dave Diles has been named to the same position at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. Diles has served as Eastern Michigan's director of athletics since 1999. Prior to that, he served as vice president and director of athletics at St. Bonaventure.
"I am certainly honored by the appointment," Diles said in a statement released by Case. "The academic orientation of the institution and the affiliation in the University Athletic Association make this an unparalleled professional opportunity. They correspond perfectly with my personal values and theory of the role of athletics in higher education."
Diles replaces David Hutter, who has served as the Spartans' interim athletic director since July.
Case is an NCAA Division III school and fields 19 teams, while Eastern Michigan is a Division I school with 21 teams.
Diles will assume his new post on May 9.

Check out this quote from their President:
"None of us is perfect," Craig Willis (university president) said when asked to assess Diles' performance as athletics director. "Certainly, there were some good things that happened on his watch, but other than that, I have no comment."
Doesnt sound like a huge vote of confidence. It seemed as though Diles was applying to every vacant AD position across the country.
