I see this game as winable because St. Louis is not that talented of a team but I am worried by Vouyoukas. He is a beast 6'10, averages 14 and 8 a game. If we can contain him we can win this game. Unfortunatly I do not think that we can so I think we will lose 77-55. As the season goes on I think we will get better on the road, same thing happend last year. GO BONAS!! BEAT ST. LOUIS!!!!!

I would be shocked if either team scores 60 points. 56-48 loss.

Ahh come on... are you kidding? Our schedule is a joke compared to theirs!
RPI SOS: Bonas 319th, St Louis 75th
Sound Niagara team?!
Probably why Vouyoukas and Liddel dont have the same numbers!

SLU will be tough to defend on the interior. Hopefully, Paul Williams is up to the task. His two double doubles during the FIU tournament is certainly an encouraging sign. I think we need either Pat or Tyler to get going from behind the arc tonight to have a chance. Sure would be nice to get 20 plus from one of those two. It would open up the interior and take the pressure off of Smith.

St. Bonaventure (6-5) at Saint Louis (6-6)
The Sports Network
DATE & TIME: Tuesday, January 3rd, 8:00 p.m. (et).
FACTS & STATS: Site: Savvis Center (20,000) -- St. Louis, Missouri. Television: Local. Home Record: St. Bonaventure 5-0, Saint Louis 5-2. Away Record: St. Bonaventure 1-3, Saint Louis 1-4 . Neutral Record: St. Bonaventure 0-2, Saint Louis 0-0. Conference Record: St. Bonaventure 0-0, Saint Louis 0-0. Series Record: St. Louis leads, 5-0.
GAME NOTES: Two teams will open their respective Atlantic-10 schedules, when the Saint Louis Billikens host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies at the Savvis Center. The Billikens have lost two of their last three contests, including a tough 60-50 setback to Iowa this past Friday. Saint Louis, which is 5-2 at home this season, has accumulated a solid 39-25 ledger at the Savvis Center dating back to the beginning of the 2001-02 campaign. As for the Bonnies, they have lost three of their last four contests, which includes an embarrassing 76-55 loss to Texas-San Antonio on December 28th. St. Bonaventure has struggled tremendously in A-10 play over the past two seasons, posting a horrendous 4-28 ledger. In regards to the all-time series between the two schools, the Billikens have won all five meetings with St. Bonaventure, including a thrilling 56-54 win over the Bonnies back in 2002.
In their past three setbacks the Bonnies have struggled offensively, scoring just 58.0 ppg. On the season, the team has done much better, averaging 69.9 ppg, while shooting 44.1 percent from the field. Ahmad Smith is currently leading the team with 17.0 ppg and 7.4 rpg, while Michael Lee is second on the squad with 12.5 ppg. Patrick Lottin rounds out the double-digit scorers, as the guard is producing 11.2 ppg. In the team's last contest, a 21-point setback to Texas-San Antonio, the Bonnies put forth a horrendous offensive effort, shooting just 37.3 percent from the field, which included an atrocious 5-of-21 showing from long range. Smith paced the team with 19 points on an 8- of-14 clip from the field, while Paul Williams added a double-double in the setback, scoring 13 points to go along with 11 rebounds.
Defensively the Billikens have been extremely impressive, permitting a mere 62.2 ppg, while holding the opposition to a lackluster 41.7 percent shooting effort from the field. Luckily for Saint Louis, the team has been solid defensively, because offensively the Billikens have been simply atrocious, scoring just 63.4 ppg. Saint Louis is shooting just 42.2 percent from the field, which includes an abysmal 29.8 percent showing from long range. Ian Vouyoukas has been the best player for the Billikens thus far, scoring 14.8 ppg, while collecting 8.8 rpg. Tommie Liddell is the only other player producing double figures, as the guard is posting 12.2 ppg. In the 10-point setback to Iowa, the Billikens shot just 36.0 percent from the floor and were led in defeat by Vouyoukas' double-double of 17 points and 12 boards. Liddell added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Kevin Lisch chipped in 10 points.
The Bonnies snapped their 30-game road losing streak against FIU a week ago, but to expect St. Bonaventure to collect two consecutive road wins is asking a little too much, especially against a defensively tough Saint Louis team.
Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Saint Louis 66, St. Bonaventure 58

They have played a solid schedule and played some very good teams close, throw in Iowa, Hawaii and Ole Miss. That means more to me than playing down to some of their other competition.
I hope the whole team can make that nice Mrs Williams happy tonight!

This will be a tough game as SLU will be better than everyone says. We have shown against a tough defensive and athletic team in UTSA that we do not have the ability to create and score. We only win tonight if one or two guys are hot from the outside. If not, we only stay close if the score stays low. Recently, this is the type of game where an unknown comes up and breaks out for a career high 25. Hopefully, not tonight.

We will lose by 20 points. I hope we keep it close, b/c I will be in Vegas Saturday and if Xavier is favored by less than 20 points, it will be the lock of the year.

I think the only way we will have a shot tonight is if we contain their offense and keep the score down.
Our offense has had trouble getting going lately and Pat's extended cold streak from behind the arc is beginning to concern me.
My heart says we will open A10 play with a close win tonight but my brain says we will lose in a close contest 57-51 before heading to Cincy and getting spanked by Xavier.

My feeling on tonight's game is that Bonas can win if we play uptempo and keep williams out of foul trouble. We'll have to press SLU all night and hopefully get some turnovers from their inexperienced guards. We need to stay out of the half court set as much as possible which is where SLU plays their best defense, especially down low. I don't expect Lee or Williams to have a high scoring night. I think 20+ fast break pts and a good defensive game from williams will be the key. Unfortunately, whenever we try to run our opponents always seem to run better and we just dig ourselves in a big hole. But i think it's worth a shot, otherwise we'll get killed if we let SLU control tempo all night.

I think we come out on fire to start the game and hold a modest lead at half time. SLU plays better ball in the second half and takes a close game.

I love bonaventure basketball with a passion, but i don't see the team being able to keep up with SLU. All stats aside did anyone see St. Louis play UNC? Sure they lost by 12 but i can recall times in that game where it seemed SLU was dominating. I know UNC is a young team and many people think they are overrated, but SLU showed promise. Not only did it seem they had a decent perimeter game but they're quick too; constantly slashing in and out of the paint allowing all five guys on the floor to get decent looks.

Vouyoukas will be a huge test for Paul tonight on the boards & scoring. He will also severely challenge all penetration with his shot blocking ability. I’m hoping we can check down on Lidelle their 2nd high scorer guard but watch out for Drejaj hitting those treys. He has the 2nd best trey % in the A10. Our recent problems scoring may be further challenged with the Bilikens good D. Pat is overdue. Go Bonnies!
