With appologees to the cross country team, I was just curious what other SBU sports people follow on the bandwagon. Due to the lack of poll positions, I had to combine men's and women's swimming and diving, tennis and soccer and ran out of room for Cross Country.
I am doing this because I'd like to see this forum post more positives about other sports, but I know that likely won't happen.
Thanks for your time and vote!

Well im gonna have to write in cross country. They get the least recognition of any sports team on campus and its about time they get a little (Tony Kornheiser voice) "Dap"

I'm going to have to write-in Rugby as my favorite SBU sport. SBU is the defending NY State champion, which probably makes them the most successful team at the school. Last weekend they had the annual alumni vs. student game and attracted over 100 players an former players. They held a fund raiser and raised a bunch of money for the Rob Peraza Scholarship (Rob was a fomrer rugger who was killed in the WTC on 9/11.
Does hockey exist there anymore? That seems like a no-brainer sport for SBU to have with the long cold Olean winter. They had a Division III team when I went there and they were a blast to follow. Niagara went big-time in hockey and they get tons of positive press in the Boston area for it, as does Mercyhurst. I'm sure it must help their name recognition and student recruiting.
