:'(Damien Hollis, a 6-foot-8 senior at Coral Springs Taravella (Fla.), committed to George Washington. ``The thing I like about him is his versatility," Taravella coach Clarence Fleming said. "He can shoot it outisde, is a good rebounder and also can block shots. He's agile and is still growing into his body."
Hollis also considered Seton Hall and Rhode Island.
And what about Bonas? Essie Hollis is his father and No. 25 (should have been retired many, many moons ago) on the NIT Championship squad along with Jim Baron. And we lose him to an A-10 school...wow! This takes the cake...Visit the Heart and say some prayers. We need'em.

Eventhough we are his father's alma mater... it is quite difficult to match up with GW with the run they are on as of late. They are developing into one of the top teams in the country year in and year out.

Have been out of the running for Hollis for a while. Kind of glad that he picked GWU over URI. Have so many good memories of that 1977 NIT championship team, it would have given me ulcers to watch a Baron and Hollis team up together on a URI team. Essie was just an outstanding guy and a delight to be around. Fantastic high jumper in addition to his basketball abilities. Wish him and his family nothing but the best.

Just think what could have been if we tried to keep Baron here. His son looks like he is going to be a very nice player. And Baron might have landed Hollis if he was still here at his fathers Alma Mater. Of course there are a lot of "If's" in there.

There is no way Jim E. Baron would still be here. That guy was constantly looking elsewhere. It seemed that towards the end he of his time here he was interviewing for at least 3 or 4 jobs every season. It didn't take him long at URI to start looking again either.
I've never understood how some people still criticize Gansey for leaving but Jimmy Midnight gets a free pass. A true bonaventure man wouldn't sell his sole for a little extra cash and go to a conference foe.
By the light of the moon, Jimmy saw the writing on the wall and had to act quickly. He did absolutely nothing to capitalize on the NCAA birth and decided to skip town.
A true bonaventure hero.
