Greetings from Ramblermania, the fan message board of Loyola University Chicago.
On our board about 90 minutes ago a poster who is well positioned to know reported that your Steve Watson has been hired as Loyola's new Athletic Director, beating out the other finalist Rick Hartzell for the job.
Here's the thread: www.ramblermania.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=851
There's no official confirmation from the University but I thought you guys might enjoy an early heads up. This information is solid, but not guaranteed.
Any information that you can provide us about Mr. Watson would be greatly appreciated.

Tough loss for Bona's but maybe the guy feels like he has done as much as he can in this job.
One silver lining I suppose is that his departure is not in any way surprising. Presumably some planning has been done on how to find a successor.

Sorry, I didn't see the "He Gone" thread.
I guess Watson's departure was old news.

I've known Woj nearly as long as Ive known Steve. I'm not sure I see the wisdom of someone with almost 1 million Twitter followers calling out the Dean of Students.

It seemed a tweet more from the heart than the head - wisdom not part of the equation.
I really wonder what he is getting at.

My understanding is in some flow chart AD answers to VP of student development. But I doubt that the AD wasn't largely autonomous.

The word on campus is Watson has been offered and accepted an AD position at Loyola. I don't know Steve real well but I wish him the best. IMHO he pretty much accomplished all he could do at Bonas. He did an outstanding job with limited resources.
Hopefully SBU can hire a young up and comer like Steve or hire an experienced older AD who is looking to have more last hurrah before he retires. Bonas has always been and will always be a stepping stone university. Watson and Schmidt fit that bill. No one is irreplaceable.
