I believe that this team will be the surprise of the league. It would not surprise me to see us win 20 plus and challenge for the A10 crown at years end. We need to get off to a good start and not stumble out of the gate. Just a hunch but expect a good season and an NCAA berth.

Dobber, that would be shocking, but I love the enthusiasm. Go Bonnies.

I can see the case you're making, Dobber, but don't feel I have the evidence to shout it loudly from the mountaintop. That is because I don't have hard data to back up my belief that the Bonnies have gained more than they lost from last year's very good team. Three alumni are now playing for money and yet I believe our backcourt will be no worse and our frontcourt significantly stronger. Would someone who has seen the new Bonnies please say something to support this or disabuse me if you think I'm in error? BTW, when I see the Bonnies rated below teams like LaSalle, SLU, and SJU--all of whom have been decimated by graduation--I wonder if these pundits are just going on historical program strength or have a very high opinion of their new recruits.

bigdobber....What are your reasons for a 20+ W season & a Top 5 finish?
Good advice by thesocalkid.

BD Prognastications, LLC "Predicting 20+ Win Seasons in the 21st Century" I like bd. He's probably the most consistently optimistic poster we've ever had here. No need to worry about Dartmouth or any other game because one or more posters are ebullient. There are no jinxes, people.

I have seen these Bonnies play. They seem to have a very deep, talented team. But......I don't think some of the important questions about the team can, or will, be answered until they hit a10 play. I say that because once you hit the a10, things can change. Andell started out great last year. I thought he would be the scorer on the team... Until he got a taste of the a10... The important questions, to me, are: Just how good is Jalen Adams? How many minutes will he get and what kind of numbers will he put up? How is his defense? Will our point guards be good enough and adapt fast enough to keep us, not just competitive, but kick it up a notch in a10 play? Will both Dion and Youssou take their games to a higher level? Who is going to step up from those not mentioned? There are plenty of candidates.....and that could be a key to our success. Yes, the league graduated many seniors. I'm glad to see those 4 from St Joes go! But Martelli will have his team ready, just as all of the other coaches will have their teams ready. It's still the a10..,,.one of the toughest leagues around. Those are my questions, and I will not venture any predictions until they have been answered.

Another big question is who will hit the 3 point and clutch shots needed to win those tough A-10 games? To reach that level some of the newcomers are going to need to step up, which is always difficult to count on.

Unfortunately, I've not quite in your category. I'm always a bit leery, at least until I've seen a few games. However, I think the core of Dion, Youssou and Jordan is a very strong one - well above league average for the teams top 3 players returning. If guard play is at least average, the team will do quite well in my opinion. I'll venture to say top half, but I can't quite get top 5 to roll off my tongue just yet.

Point #1: Other programs have productive players graduate also. Point #2: Ndoye in my opinion needs to play like a Senior. He has made nice progress since landing in Olean. I look around the league and there is not a center on any team that I would swap YN for. Point #3: I appreciated Matt Wright but I believe we have an upgrade at that position. Matt was streaky but not consistent and not a great defender. Point #4: Dion Wright has obviously shown that he can be a solid starter and has picked up a couple endorsements from the national press. Again, 3rd year can be a leap for many at Bonas. Point #5 Most acknowledge that this roster is very deep. MS came in wanting to play an up tempo offense and finally has the roster to execute. Point #6 Jordan Gathers if healthy has shown a good eye from the perimeter. I believe he will get the minutes to showcase his game in the final year of his career. Point #7 Top 5 in this league generally means being above .500 by a game or two. We have consistently improved our home court edge over the past 5 years. That trend stays in place. Point #8 UD had a cinderella run last year. Every year the A10 brings more candidates to the NCAA. I believe we will get a minimum of 4 teams in this year. Expect more. Point #9 Jalen and Jaylen will develop as the A10 season moves along. I have heard nothing but good things about both on this board and from people not on this board. Point #10 Denzel Gregg, Xavier Smith and Jordan Tyson give us some hops and length. Point #11 Under MS, we always seem to bring in a JUCO that is A10 ready. I expect that to be the case this year.
Schmidt who never talks up expectations was probably very pleased when he saw the pre season low expectations. Everything adds up for a solid year. 13 conference wins plus a deep run in the A10 tourney.
In deference to socal kid. Dartmouth will not be the problem but Canisius and Niagara always seem to have our number. If we sweep them all systems are go. A split would not temper my enthusiasm. Losing to both would be a set back. Buffalo to me is not much different than playing a Cleveland State or Ohio. Seen enough of them to know it should be a tough game but not the same as CC and NU.
OK...pick apart my logic.

Love the enthusiasm bigdobber.
Don't see us winning 13 games though, the A10 is way too hard to pull that off. I say we will win anywhere from 7 to 11 games in conference, matters how we do at the end of games because many games will be close this year. I don't believe Canisius and Niagara will be a problem and the reason for this is because we don't have to go to their tiny gyms. I don't believe the A10 will send 6 teams again this year. I can see 4 maybe 5, but pulling off 6 again seems like a stretch. I really hope it happens though.

Pass the KOOL AID, brother.
I think the 2 keys will be the play of DION and DENZELL. Both have shown enormous potential and its a matter of coaching at this point.
YOU needs to stay out of foul trouble, mix in some decent guard play and a strong home court advantage and we're looking at a good recipe.

People - Big Dobber is right, mark it - 22 wins, this team is going to be very athletic and surprise people.
By the way, our guy AN is dying in Orlando - they nee to trade him ASAP - he is going to lose his positive attitude and skills, very disappointing.

Good job BD & Cassian, we need some of that around here - and I'm in 22W - just don't ask me for an analysis - other than that this is a gut feeling as I agree with the thought we will surprise or shock many who will not be able to deal with our athletes. Hermit - your last line is like saying you'll make your prediction after seeing how many games we win - (just yanking your chain .) Go Bonnies
