Good point chuck. with what we have at the 1,2,4, each of whom should make one of the three preseason all league teams, a player at the 3 with kind of ability and a competent big man. This could be a special year. Just the observation of an old bartender.

With a somewhat undersized PF, great he has rebounding skills / physical presence from the SF position.
Tyson can be the wildcard at the 5 or another signing? Woods might be too raw, but you never know......
Gregg and Griffin add depth ..... Things are lining up well but let's keep up the momentum / positive vibe and sigh another 1-2!

Cat is correct Bonnies already have a talented starting lineup for next year. How much talent do the Bonnies have returning? Check out Bonnies standing among returning players in the A-10. -- Bonnies have the 4th (Marcus) and 7th (Dion) leading scorers returning in the Atlantic 10. -- Jaylen Adams leads the A-10 in both assists per game and assist/turnover ratio. Jaylen's 4.7 assists per game is way ahead of 2nd place Scoochie Smith with 3.8 assists per game. -- Dion is 9th in rebounds per game and 7th in offensive rebounds per game. Now with all this we add the 4th leading scorer in the nation among JUCOs. A player Schmidt calls "can step in and make a huge impact for us next season" or a player that Schmidt foresees "in two years has a chance to make money playing this game.” With Courtney the Bonnies are improved in 4 of 5 starting positions. Now Bonnies need to just add a big man. I do not understand why Bonnies are having trouble in signing a big man. Schmidt has taken 2 lowly recruited big men and turned one into a NBA player and the other into a NBA prospect. Is there a better selling point to a raw big man than to say look what I have done in developing Andrew and Youssou and you would be next? statsheet.com/mcb/players/stats/points_avg?conf=a-10&games=1statsheet.com/mcb/players/stats/assists_avg?conf=a-10&games=1statsheet.com/mcb/players/stats/assist_turnover_ratio?conf=a-10&games=1statsheet.com/mcb/players/stats/rebounds_avg?conf=a-10&games=1statsheet.com/mcb/players/stats/rebounds_offensive?conf=a-10&games=1

You can add David West to the list of big men Schmidt has developed. Schmidt's primary job at Xavier under Skip Prosser was working with the big men and all he did was develop West into a 1st team All American and the National Player of the Year and become one of the dominant power forwards in the NBA the past 12 years. As we all know, these AAU and high school coaches have their own agendas. Makes no sense. We all need to remember that Jordan Tyson, who was a 3 star recruit, remains on the roster with 4 years of eligibility. Here's hoping Schmidt works his magic with Jordan and is the answer to our big man concerns the next 4 years.

Yes, Schmidt's next project is already on the roster with Tyson. Maybe there isnt urgency to sign a big man because of that fact. I am sure we will bring one in, probably a JUCO Chris Dees type.

Yeah, could use a big body to bang around underneath the hoop for stretches of games. I too am interested to see how Tyson looks though.

I was fortunate enough to snag seats very close (2nd row) to the floor in Brooklyn for both games. Tyson never took off his warm-ups that I noticed, but he seemed very thin - even thinner than I remember him being from prep school photos. And he looked to be the same height as Smith - 6'8" ? I hope he can put on some weight/muscle before next season, or I am afraid he is going to get pushed around.
Any comment on Tyson from those of you who get to see the team 'run' ?

I sure hope KC is correct about Jordan Tyson. During the open scrimmage last November, Jordan really impressed me with a drill for big men. Coach Moore would throw an entry pass to a player at the low post. The player had to score from the post with another big guarding him. Of all the players doing this drill (players 6'6" or taller) I thought Jordan looked the best. Jordan has a really nice baby hook shot. Then we have the scrimmage against Mansfield and he has like 5 fouls in 5 minutes. Did not look anything like the player I saw during that drill. From gobonnies it states following for Jordan "suffered a broken jaw in practice in December and did not dress for any games after that." I hear coaching staff thinks enough of Jordan to offer him a red shirt year. I'm hopeful Jordan just needs more development, because he has big man skills. We also should not forget that Jordan averaged 12.4 ppg and shot an incredible 68% from the field for the number 4 ranked team in the nation (from gobonnies). I'm still at a loss for what happened against Mansfield, but there is still reason to be hopeful Jordan turns it around. Type of JUCO big man I would like to see is another D'Lancy Carter. D'Lancy was a solid rebounder and solid man defender in the post. gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/m-baskbl/2014-15/bios/tyson_jordan_11ox

I agree Chuck. I don't remember D'Lancy's numbers, but I would 'settle' for a guy who is a defensive presence and gives us 8pts and 5-6 rbs. with a block or two every night. I don't think we will need to look to our center for alot of scoring next year. :-)

You don't know about a player until you start playing some regular season games. Jalen is a perfect example. That goes both ways, good or bad.

I agree above is usually true, but I can think of exceptions. -- Kevin Houston only Mid-Night Madness with the Bonnies was all you needed to see to realize he was going to be the star of the team. -- Remember first time seeing Barry Atkinson and wondering why Satalin would give Barry a scholarship. -- First time I saw Barry Mungar, I thought what a waste of a scholarship. Never would have dreamed at the time he would become a 4th round NBA pick.

Last year we had a starting 5 that all could score in double digits. Not sure this year we can say the same thing may, be hard to reproduce that.

Link below to article from JP Butler titled "Stockard a good fit for the Bonnies." I've never seen Schmidt with such high praise for a recruit. Check out the following comments from Schmidt. "We’re thrilled that we were able to get him.” "Twenty-three points a game and nine rebounds tells you what kind of player he is.” “Losing Andell, Courtney can step in and make a huge impact for us next season.” “We try not to bring in junior college guys to sit on the bench,” he added. “We need to bring them in to be impact guys. We feel he can be that type of player — up-and-down, open-court type of kid. He was well-coached in junior college, he loves to play, he’s everything that we look for in our players." "But, just like anybody — even the guys already in our program going from his sophomore year to his junior year — he has to get better. He’s not a pro player (right now); our job and his job is to improve the level where in two years he has a chance to make money playing this game.” “Our guys really liked him when he came in to play (last weekend),” Schmidt said. “He was impressive. We’re excited that he’s joined us.” www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/article_079c0648-f47e-11e4-893c-bf3a6ee25a99.html

Thought the same thing right away Chuck - can't remember Schmidt ever being so effusive in his praise of an incoming kid. Didn't he have great praise for Jalen Adams?
