6-5 JUCO SG commits to Bonas. Backcourt looks to be loaded for next year. That's how you win in this league.

Courtney is a long 6'5" (9 rebs a game!)with a very impressive 49% FGs from attacking the rim & living on the stripe (got there 296 times & made 75%). His style of play will open up looks from outside for Marcus & JAY. CHUCK posted this in the 2015 Recruit thread. Courtney Stockard has very impressive credentials. 1. His 23.2 ppg is 4th in the nation for JUCOs in D-1. 2. WGT mentions about Courtney's ability to get to the stripe. He led the nation in both free throws attempted (10.2 pg) and free throws made (7.7 pg). 3. Courtney led his team in rebounds. In fact his 262 rebounds more than doubles Allen's 2nd leading rebounder with 113. 4. Courtney's 9.0 rebounds per game is 38th in the nation. Reminder he is only 6'5". 5. Courtney excelled on the defensive end for rebounds where he is 7th in the nation with 7.3 defensive rpg. 6. He was a first team all conference KJCCC player. Bonnies had another 1st team KJCCC player and his name was Kevin Houston, who played for Seward. Strangely their stats are very similar with Kevin Houston averaging 23.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. This is where the similarities end as Kevin Houston was a 1st team JUCO All American and named 1st team to the National All Tournament Team where he averaged 33.5 ppg during the tournament. stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2014-15/div1/players?pos=sg&sort=ptspg stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2014-15/div1/players?sort=ftppg&view=&pos=sg&r=0 kjccc.org/sports/mbkb/2014-15/teams/allencountycommunitycollege?sort=ptspg&tmpl=teaminfo-network-monospace-template stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2014-15/div1/players?pos=bc&sort=trebpg stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2014-15/div1/players?sort=drebpg&view=&pos=bc&r=0 www.hurricanesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=28700&ATCLID=209602671

His style of play will open up looks from outside for Marcus & JAY. Except for the build above has me thinking of Jonathan Hall. Jonathan thrived with attacking the basket, was a solid rebounder and as a senior he led the Bonnies in assists. By the way along with being his team leading scorer, leading rebounder, Courtney also led his team in assists. As WGT states Courtney's "style of play will open up looks from outside for Marcus & JAY." It is especially important for Marcus, who shot just 23.8% from 3s after Jay was lost for the season. Like Courtney and Kevin Houston, Andell was also a 1st team all conference KJCCC player. Unlike Courtney, Andell was not the star of his team and averaged just 14.2 ppg. It is actually an unfair comparison as Andell played on a better team. Courtney is not a Kevin Houston. I'm hoping he can provide many of the skills of Jonathan Hall. At the very least he should provide the production of Andell. By the way for the Bonnies, Andell was a double digit scorer, had team's best 3 point accuracy, had best FG % from perimeter players and was the team's 3rd leading rebounder. Andell had a solid senior season. A big time scorer with Jonathan Hall's style of play is the type of player Bonnies need to replace Andell. statsheet.com/mcb/teams/st-bonaventure/players?season=2009-2010kjccc.org/sports/mbkb/2014-15/teams/allencountycommunitycollege?sort=ptspg&tmpl=teaminfo-network-monospace-templatestatsheet.com/mcb/players/player/st-bonaventure/marcus-posley/game_statsstatsheet.com/mcb/teams/st-bonaventure/players

Allen County Community college small forward Courtney Stockard looks like a guy that mid majors should track throughout the season. 6-foot-5 with long arms, Stockard was played a lot as a mismatch four man who bigs found difficult to defend as he operated along the baseline or cut through the lane for dunks and interior scores. His jumper looks to be solid and the St. Louis native doesn't lack for toughness.

.....is official. gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/m-baskbl/2014-15/releases/20150506xl0sc1@bonniesmbb Adds Junior College Standout Courtney Stockard Posted: May 06, 2015Tweet ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Courtney Stockard, a 6-foot-5 guard/small forward from St. Louis, Mo., has signed a National Letter of Intent to enroll at St. Bonaventure University and play basketball beginning in the fall of 2015. Stockard played the past two seasons at Allen (Kansas) Community College. Last season as a sophomore, he was the second-leading scorer in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference at 23.2 points per game. Stockard was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association Region All-Region VI second team as well as to the KJCCC West division All-Conference first team. Known as an all-around player, Stockard also was the fifth-leading rebounder in the KJCCC this past season, averaging 9.0 per game. He made 48.5 percent of his shots from the field, including 32 percent (38-118) from three-point range. Stockard went to the free throw line 296 times in his 29 games and made 75 percent of his free throws. He also averaged 1.4 steals per game. "Courtney is a really good fit for our program," said St. Bonaventure head coach Mark Schmidt. "He's a very good student and he's a really good player. His strength is his overall skill level. He has perimeter player skills in a forward's body. He can take the ball off the rim and lead the break the other way. He can score, rebound and defend, he has a nose for the ball, and he can play a number of positions from the two to the four." "Losing (graduating senior small forward) Andell (Cumberbatch)," Schmidt said, "Courtney can step in and make a huge impact for us next season." His first season at Allen, Stockard averaged 12.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. "Courtney worked hard to expand his game. He was good coming in, but he transformed into great junior college player," said Andy Shaw, Stockard's head coach at Allen. "He put in the time to improve and was able to add some weight, which really helped him. With his height and length, he's very versatile. He does little bit of everything. He really gets to the rim and finishes- whether it's in transition or in the half court. He is very saavy and knows how to draw contact. He's a really good rebounder … he crashes the glass." Stockard is a graduate of Jennings High School in St. Louis. He will have two seasons of eligibility at St. Bonaventure. Stockard is the third member of the Bonnies' recruiting class this year, joining guard LaDarian Griffin and forward Derrick Woods. Both Griffin and Woods will be freshmen next season. Link below to article from JP Butler titled "Stockard a good fit for the Bonnies." I've never seen Schmidt with such high praise for a recruit. Check out the following comments from Schmidt. "We’re thrilled that we were able to get him.” "Twenty-three points a game and nine rebounds tells you what kind of player he is.” “Losing Andell, Courtney can step in and make a huge impact for us next season.” “We try not to bring in junior college guys to sit on the bench,” he added. “We need to bring them in to be impact guys. We feel he can be that type of player — up-and-down, open-court type of kid. He was well-coached in junior college, he loves to play, he’s everything that we look for in our players." "But, just like anybody — even the guys already in our program going from his sophomore year to his junior year — he has to get better. He’s not a pro player (right now); our job and his job is to improve the level where in two years he has a chance to make money playing this game.” “Our guys really liked him when he came in to play (last weekend),” Schmidt said. “He was impressive. We’re excited that he’s joined us.” www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/article_079c0648-f47e-11e4-893c-bf3a6ee25a99.html

Thought the same thing right away Chuck - can't remember Schmidt ever being so effusive in his praise of an incoming kid.
