Not sure if this has been discussed, but will we have him for 1 year or 2? After sitting out this year of course.

He's transfering because he wants to Play "a higher level of basketball"! Geez, they only won 5 games last year - one could say it appears they have been playing against a higher level of basketball!! Think about it !!! Perhaps if he was more precise in his language, he would have also been unnecessarily insulting to his program. Think about it. Baron signed Mobley's teammate at Central Connecticut Malcolm McMillan. He was the starting point guard during Mobley's freshman season. He only played 2 games this season, because of injury. Canisius fans are projecting him as a starter this season. McMillian scored 10.8 ppg as a junior. statsheet.com/mcb/players/player/central-connecticut-state/malcolm-mcmillanwww.voy.com/30982/

He is a shooting guard and a strong candidate to replace Posley. Solid looking backcourt for the next few years with Jaylen, Nelson and Matt.

In the 2016 season it is expected that Mobley will step into Posley’s slot. There are MANY similarities to their games.
Here are their numbers. Keep in mind Matt’s were acquired in a lower conference and Posley had more playing experience under his belt last season.
Marcus 36 mpg, 16.7 ppg, 38% FGs, 32% TREYS (47% of his shots were TREYS), 78% FT% (gets to the stripe 4.16 a game), 2.9 rebs , 1.0 A/TO Ratio, 1.23 steals Matt 37 mpg, 17.2ppg, 40% FGs, 36% TREYS (48% of his shots are TREYS), 76% FTs (gets to the stripe 5 a game), 2.7 rebs, 1.8 Assists, 2.7 TOs, .69 A/TO Ratio, .8 steals
Matt sitting this coming season will further develop his game. I expect his TREY shooting will be even better & he will be worked on making better decisions with the ball.
He is described as athletic, wiry strong & long. Fiske will make sure he gets stronger over his next 3 years at Bona.
It will be exciting to see Matt knocking down shots.

I know we are talking about highlights, but he looks like a smooth, quick player to me. Kaputo was a blur, extremely quick. The two of them together, with Adams there to control things with his steady hand/play. wow

In the 2016 season it is expected that Mobley will step into Posley’s slot. The above from WGT is probably true, but I would not count out Nelson Kaputo. I personally think Jaylen Adams would also be a solid shooting guard, which would allow Nelson to play the point. Consider the following from Northpole about Nelson “arguably the best pure point guard in the nation for the Class of 2016.” It also states, “the St. Mike’s lead guard has been the engine for the No. 1 ranked Canadian high school team — an absolute playmaker.” Jaylen led the A-10 in assists per game, but personally I'm not sure he is your typical playmaker and he has never been described as a pure point guard. Jaylen does not excel at taking it to the basket, which describes most playmakers. Taking it the hoop and creating open looks for his teammates is a strength of Nelson. It will be exciting to see how it develops. It does not matter who the starters are, because it appears Bonnies are set at the guard spots for the future with Jaylen, Nelson and Matt. www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/article_13a0413e-f339-11e4-bb6b-1b6e71cb2bc9.html

Jay is best defensively at the point. I don't think he has the athleticism or size to play most 2 guards. There is nothing wrong with having 2 pg's splitting minutes. Nelson is no way a shooting guard. He's not a consistent 3 pt shooter, his back court mate at St Mike's is (Carr).

They were 3-15 in conference, 5-26 for the year! Obviously, they were playing all last year against a higher level of basketball!

I think you're right about Adams lacking the size to defend the 2 guard, but offensively, especially his 3 point shooting could make up for that. I think it would just be a case of "pick your poison". And maybe, just being a freshman last yr, he can improve on his defense (i know you can't make up for size, but maybe his quickness will help).. It will def be interesting to see how Coach plays it, but either way, i like that we have the "options"..

You quoted him as saying he wants to play "a higher level of basketball" ... which would indicate that, you know, HE wants to be a part of a higher level of basketball, not watch the teams he's playing against play a higher level of basketball. Why is this difficult?

I noticed with all of our excitement about Mobley, Kaputo & Adams, we are forgetting about Taqqee (myself included). Lets not forget about our young, lock down defender. He might have something to say about that backcourt rotation as well going forward!

St. Bonaventure Athletics May 21, 2015
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Matt Mobley, a 6-foot-2 guard who was the leading scorer at CentralConnecticut State last season, has signed an athletics grant-in-aid and will transfer to St. Bonaventure University. Per NCAA rules, he will sit out next season and then have two years of eligibility starting in 2016-17.
Mobley, who is from Worcester, Mass., spent the past two years at Central Connecticut State. This season, he ranked third in the Northeast Conference in scoring at 17.2 points per game and was named the NEC's Most Improved Player as well as to the second team all-NEC. Mobley averaged 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game and shot 36 percent (74-207) from three-point range and 75 percent at the free throw line. His four 30-point games were the most of any NEC player.
As a freshman, Mobley averaged 6.8 points per game and was selected to the NEC All-Rookie team.
"We are really fortunate that Matt has chosen to join our program," said St. Bonaventure head coach Mark Schmidt. "Matt is a proven Division I player. He's a scorer who can really put the ball in the basket in a number of ways. He can shoot threes, he can take people off the bounce and he can get to the (free throw) line. When Marcus Posley graduates (after next season), we hope that Matt can fill some of that void."
Prior to playing at Central Connecticut, Mobley attended Worcester (Mass.) Prep for one season. He is a graduate of St. Peter Marian High School.

Now that it's official lets offer a warm Enchanted Mountain Welcome to the newest member of the Bonnies. Excited about his potential to make all proud of him on and off the court. A quality student athlete who will prosper in the Brown & White.
Wishing Matt the "Good Journey" at Bona that is truly a unique experience.
