nyc02....Thanks for posting the details on the upcoming Open Houses at Bona. As you request "Help spread the word," is just one of many ways that we ALL can assist in enrollment.
I know you do far more than sharing this information. Your personal involvement at meetings with potential students & their parents is always insightful for those making their college decision.

To all of those who are reading this post PLEASE, if you ever get the opportunity, put the Bonnie plug in their ear!
If you have ever been on campus during one of those Open House events it is wonderful to see the parents and the kids walking around. Any chance that I have during that time I talk to and encourage the kids to make Bonas their choice.
With that being said here is one of the biggest reasons for not choosing Bonas, " its out in the sticks and its hard to get to ". OK, I can go along with that and maybe this might work, setup a commuter system for the kids to go to and from the Buffalo Airport, next when the school is on mid-semester breaks don't force them to leave their dorms.
REDUCE TUITION BY 10%. THAT'S RIGHT A DISCOUNT. THE SCHOOL CAN MAKE IT UP BY ATTRACTING MORE STUDENTS AT A LOWER COST.
So, before you guys go and ripe me a new one, these are just thoughts!
If anyone else, has anything to add please, go and do so. Hopefully we can get a 19 page thread on this topic also !!!
Go Bonnies
PS the Hickey is a great place to go and eat at.

The tuition is discounted plenty already. It is not hard to get to. It is very driveable from Pitt, Cleveland, Buff, Toronto, Roch and Syracuse. Long but easy from NJ, metro NY and Philly. Flights are tougher, I'll give you that. But there is now a cheap shuttle from Bradford to Pittsburgh airport which is a USAirways hub, I believe.

socal, i remember making the same suggestion re transportation to/from buffalo airport at parent's weekend when my oldest daughter was a frosh (2007)...i remember trying to make the point that if bonas wanted to attract more students from outside its traditional recruiting areas it would have to assure parents that there was a way for their kids to travel a greater distance safely and quickly...we live 500+ miles from bonas...9 hrs by car...less than 1 and a half hrs by plane...the suggestion went nowhere then and, as far as i know, bonas still does not coordinate any kind of transportation to/from buffalo airport...this is the kind of thing that has to be done in order to expand our student base...
and i share your hope that this generates a 19 page thread because declining enrollment at bonas is priority #1...not 1 row of bleacher seats in the rc...

At last evening's college fair in Northern NY, parents were provided with the total cost figures for attending the respective schools that participated in the event. The total cost for Bona's was listed as $40,975.
Listed below are the costs for other participating private schools: Cazenovia College: $43,000 Clarkson University: 56,250 Daemen College: $36,790 Elmira College: $49,950 Green Mountain College: $45,228 Hamilton College: $59,970 Hartwick College: $50,000 Hilbert College: $27,800 Hobart College: $60,034 Ithaca College: $52,300 Lemoyne College: $42,200 Middlebury College: $61,456 Mount Holyoke College: $53,000 Nazareth College: $40,000 Niagara University: $41,010 Rensselaer Poly: $61,820 RIT: $47,336 St. Michael's: $48,740 Siena College: $44,363 Skidmore College: $59,942 St. John Fisher: $40,708 St. Lawrence U: $59,982 Union College: $63,105 Utica College: $45,000
Of the many visitors we met with last evening, no one seemed concerned about the cost of attending Bona's, after I preemptively pointed out to each visitor that the net cost for most students is comparable to the SUNY schools. Parents and students are most interested in majors offered, job placement, graduate school opportunities and location of the school in relation to home. And for those wondering, no one asked about the student seating in the Reilly Center.

Students who are physically and academically able, patriotic, and have the right character can get an education at any of these schools with a 100% tuition scholarship and a monthly cash stipend by agreeing to serve their country and enrolling in ROTC. Syracuse U and Utica College also offer ROTC scholarship cadets 100% free room and board and perhaps several of the others do as well. They graduate prepared for one of the best paying and highly respected careers. However, I pitched the program to so many hundreds of prospects over the years that I know it is a difficult sell to most of our coddled younger generation, most of whom would prefer to run up debts that they may have little prospect of repaying if not in the right academic major.

Nice job spils84 !
The average student cost for a student attending Bona, living on campus with the food plan is $18,577. Comparable or less than state schools.
Surprised that the College Fair listed Hilbert $4,480 LESS than they actually are. Also listed Nazareth $4,438 LESS than they are for 2015-16.
Bona is $42,817. Tuition $30,424 + Fees 965 + Rm & Bd $11,428. Bona is #5 on the 2015 list of Best College Values in the North & #2 in NYS.
socalkid....Keep talking up Bona when you encounter visitors on campus. I do the same whenever I pass by a parent & student doing a tour.

Watching the Steelers pre game special on the local ABC affiliate, WTAE, I just saw Sister Margaret's "come visit SBU - just a 3 hour drive" ad for the second time on this station. But the first time was during the Sunday AM news when I was probably one of just a handful of people watching. But Steelers pre game is a whole lot bigger audience and I am certain it cost a lot more $ to get the ad on. Hope the ad, which is very professional looking, pays off in a few more students from the area.
