Dominic Welch had an INCREDIBLE game in a 69-64 win over Maryvale.
44 points on 17-23 shooting.
Grabbed 18 boards
7 Blocks & 4 Assists
John Hall type stats but even better.

Boy that Kilgore team is big - very solid looking roster. What is Ndene's game? He must be the scoring big as it looks like they have other guys to do the banging and dirty-work inside, although if he's rebounding at a rate to get him to #6 nationally, he has something going on there also. But 65% from the field? Wow!
And Kilgore plays a big-time JUCO sched, right?

Kilgore plays in a competitive Region but they are only 12-8. A down year for them.
Correction on Ndene's rebound ranking for his 9 rpg. He is #44 in the nation. His 65.2 FG% is # 24 in the nation.
He has an inside game (which we are missing)taking good shots. Have seen 3 of his games streamed. He is not foul prone which our bigs are. Averages 2.3 fouls a game. Has never fouled out.
Ndene comes from the SEEDS program in Senegal where Youssou came from. Andrew visited SEEDS when Youssou was there.

wgt - I hope his solid record of not fouling is NOT a reflection that he doesn't play D, but instead is due to him playing D right, more with his feet and not his hands. What have you seen? I am impressed you've seen 3 of his games already. Any update on our other recruit already signed?

It appears our guy is not getting much help from his teammates.
KILGORE, TX -- Kilgore College was ahead by three points at halftime but a furious 18-2 Panola College scoring run to begin the second half propelled the Ponies to a 75-66 Region XIV win Feb. 1.
Panola shot three-pointers at will in the second half, hitting 60 percent of them (9-of-15) and finished the game 12-of-26 from behind the three-point line.
KC was led in scoring by Ndene Gueye with 20 points, almost earning a double-double by adding 9 rebounds. Jamar Sandifer was also in double figures for the Rangers with 17 points.
The Ponies spread its offense around with four players in double figures, Devyn Wilson leading the way with 16 points. Panola's Keondre "K.J." Byers and Eric McGill each had 13 points and Tope Arikawe ended up with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
With the loss, the KC men drop to 12-9 overall and 3-8 in Region XIV play. Panola improves to 15-7 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
KC travels Saturday, Feb. 4, to face Navarro College in Corsicana. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. against the Bulldogs.

Javon Pickett is a 6'5 SG from Illinois who has already signed with the Illni. The tweeter is surmising that Robinson is in Rochester looking at a 6'3 G Jalen Pickett from Rochester's Aquinas. He doesn't appear to have a verbal commits page. Anyone from the ROC seen him play? according to the democrat and chronicle he score 28 points in the NYS Class AA championship game to give Aquinas the title last season. www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/high-school/2016/03/13/aquinas-wins-state-basketball-title/81735986/

Happy to hear Coach Robinson was at the AQ/Ludden game. I would guess he was there to see Adams-Wood but I believe our staff has had prior contact with Pickett as well.
Pickett is a very athletic 6'3 combo guard. He is not really a pure point guard but certainly has a strong handle and can be an effective PG. From the wing, he is not would you'd think of as a lights out shooter but is capable of hitting 3s and pull up jumpers. He can be a slasher and passes pretty well. So if you have started to think that he doesn't do one thing exceptionally well you are on the right track. The bottom line is the kid is a winner. He was a big part of the Aquinas football program that won a state championship and a very big piece of a NYState champion in hoops as well. Very Taqqee-like. He is most like Mandell Thomas who we recruited out of Rush-Henrietta in Rochester. I don't believe we ever actually offered Thomas but he went on to have a nice career at Fordham. Pickett and Thomas are very much alike- not dominate in one area, but ready, willing and able to do whatever it takes to help his team win.
