FWIW, UMass has video screens in the end zone. Of course that is probably because it is less neck strain for the fans in the front row

Bona84 - Pretty pathetic commentary from a Bona graduate. Millions of Catholics murdered by the British and Turkish governments and you use it as a punch line......wow - very sad indeed. Get a grip.
Yes, those innocent Irish, Armenian and Ukrainian people should be commemorated at the CMC, no question.

I'm curious to see if that score board is going to be any kind of issue in one of them, "times winding down, shoot full court" situations..

I would think due diligence would be done and avoid that situation. FWIW, I have seen a ball hit the existing scoreboard on a heave.

Will the video board just be a broadcast of the online feed? I know many (myself included) have talked about wanting to start a fundraiser for better (HD) equipment, however I don't know if it's the cameras, the outdated production van, or what. Just wondering how that will relate to the quality that shows on the video board

If someone just bought the school an HD Cam, would it work with our current back-end equipment?

If I recall correctly, it was obtained either cheaply or donated from ESPN. In the last post about this, people mentioned that since HD technology vans arent really new anymore, we could probably still upgrade very cheaply. If TK is out there or anyone with connections, can we can some answers about this, would love to start getting some kind of funding page started.

My understanding is that the van is analog.....and everything else these days in the electronic media is digital. Explains the poor quality. Also, the students should be working with equipment that is near to state-of-the-art as possible. Looking at a prospective student who is considering Broadcast Journalism and further considering enrolling in SBU's J/MC program.......... SBU's antiquated analog equipment would likely be a deal killer.

Re: the board. Looks good, although that is a terrible photoshop job....its always something haha. I would wait until we see the real thing because that drawing just looks all out of wack proportion/angle wise...but before saying people in the reds can't see it lets wait.
I read that there are rumors of end-zone video screens as well? I would be surprised with the 700,000 price tag (really not expensive when it comes to arena scoreboards) if it included wall monitors.
-Great points being brought up about the cameras....It will look horrible on the HD monitors replaying the analog feed we currently have.(Analago on Digital Screens looks worse than analog on an analog screen) I wonder if there are plans to upgrade the truck as well? Or maybe they will have a separate digital camera just for the videoboard until we can get a digital truck? Not sure how all that works with the video board. I do know from talking to the faculty supervisor of the truck, that as far as the internet feed is concerned its a lot more than just getting new cameras, need to update the entire truck.

Many thanks for the generosity of Albert C. Horton.
Due to his donation a critical addition to the RC will help in recruiting. Previously, visitors must have been disappointed if not shocked to see we lacked a large screen scoreboard.

I really appreciated the dedication to John B Skehan, he was head of the Phys. Ed. Dept. when I was there in 73'-77' and of course he was the famous head swim coach. My respect for Mr. Skehan has always been huge. He demanded excellence and promoted self discipline by all in the PE department. I will never forget the grueling aquatics classes, from scuba to kayaking, to attaining your WSI certificate. If you passed his classes you earned it, and his respect which in the end we all really wanted. You knew as a student of John B that he did not play favorites, and he only accepted your best effort. Whenever I attend a Bona's reunion and sit down with Jimmy Baron it does not take long before we begin to reminisce about acquatics, neither of us was a Johnny Weismueller in the pool. Thanks Mr. Horton.
