There is an awful lot of concern about depth in regards to a team that plays only 7 or 8 guys. I realize injuries are a thing but lets face it if Mobley or Adams is injured the season is sunk anyhow. The concern for depth is if you lose an Adams/Mobley not for the season but for say 4 games - can depth hold the fort enough or do we lose those 4 games knocking us out of an NCAA bid ? Depth is huge to have

Depth should not be an issue
Jay/Mobley/Idris/Ayeni/Ikpeze
kaputo / the chef/ Griffin / Gueye should all see time
And hopefully stockard. That's 9 players and if we can add one more contributor, who may still be out there we would be in real good shape

My boys said Kaputo looked great at the camp and in the scrimmages. He is ready for the next level.

My depth concern isn't injury -- not that that isn't always a concern -- but more about foul trouble. The team ran into it quite a bit last year and by "the team" I mostly mean Ayeni and Ikpeze. There were a number of times when I thought Schmidt was going to have to dress the walk-ons during close games. One more big body and a shooter (sigh, coburn) would be a welcome addition.

One interesting fact by Tareq's announcement....he was on campus for summer session I, but made the announcement after he returned home....at least that is my perception. Wonder why.....maybe didn't want to get pressured by his teammates to stay....anyway. I am sorry to see him go....a great kid and wonderful family, a family that seemed to love Bona basketball.

I was wondering the same fjs, but maybe TAREQ needed a class to finish up in 1st Summer Session before he could officially transfer.

To me the timing comes down to Poyser arriving. Coburn might have been ok not playing a ton this season but then thought Kaputo, Poyser, Stockard and Chef might be too crowded next season. Who really knows though.

I think the issue with Coburn might have been more long term. If he felt he was not a staff favorite, he might have been worried about his chances of starting after next year, what with Poyser appearing to play a similar game, and probably better. He simply may not have seen himself plugged into a starting position the year after next, despite the loss of 3 starters after next year- a tough pill to swallow with likely a ton of friends telling him he should/could be a star elsewhere.
