That date is circled on my calendar. The Bonnies should be fully healthy by then. Top 25 UB comes to town. I’m guaranteeing a Bona victory.
1-4 might look and feel awful. That record would be reversed if Schmidt had his full roster. Heck, 5-0 isn’t out of the question. Boise St was nothing special. It’s hard to win when you have 7 healthy players and 3 of them are freshman.
Brighter days ahead. Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

The Bulls have 4 games between today and December 8th, all of which they should be heavy favorites in. So they will probably even be ranked higher when they come into the Reilly Center, 12/8 should be an electric day in Olean!

Difficult to understand, but I have been enjoying every game. I feel like the season doesn’t start until the A10 kicks off. Meanwhile, the newbies are getting accustomed to life in Division I.

I can’t say the same. I have not enjoyed every game. Yesterday and today were infuriating. Sloppy, sloppy basketball. I know they are young and shorthanded and I’m not severely disappointed or anything, but it doesn’t make these games easier to watch. — And I’m sorry but this thread is quite ridiculous. I know it’s the new thing to have the hottest takes possible but the OP guaranteed victory over a ranked team on a night we lost by 20 to a below average team. Really

Yes, I get all that, tasty. We don't look good, but I've been traveling and trying to keep all this in perspective. In five games we've discovered that we have two solid guards. We know we've got a couple very strong, tournament-tested players sidelined. I believe Osun has demonstrated he'll be a solid freshman starter when he's playing with Griffin and Stockard. So that gives you a good starting five and the others will give you an experienced bench that better understands what they have to do when given a shot. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Best of luck to the Bonnies today. I know they will be tired and humbled, especially after Mark Schmidt gives them a little Dutch uncle advice. Let's get a win, get home, and work on the fundamentals.

Stockard is an elite a10 player. Griffin is no slouch either. We haven’t seen Melki play, but he should be an asset. This team will look totally different next month. 2 months. 3 months. By March, they will be a team that nobody wants to play in Brooklyn.

It has been difficult watching the Bonnies, especially these games in the Cayaman Tournament. As many have pointed out the results is what we should have expected with the numerous injuries. I agree with Class 70, there are encouraging signs. There also have been disappointing performances. Positive signs -- Kyle is the biggest surprise for this team. Kyle is averaging more points per game than he did at Putnam. As a freshman, Kyle is the 2nd leading scorer for the Bonnies at 14.8 ppg. In these 5 games, Kyle has displayed a solid jumper. He 2nd on the team in FG% hitting 46.2% of his shots from the field. He leads Bonnies in assists, free throw shooting %, steals and is even 3rd in rebounding. Kyle is currently the 16th leading scorer in the A-10 and is leading the conference in free throw % at 95.7%. Kyle certainly has the looks of being the Bonnies next great PG. -- Jalen has shown he can be a star for this team. He is leading the team in scoring, averaging 20.4 ppg. He has a solid jump shot hitting 44.6% of his shots from the field, which is slightly less than Kyle's shooting percentage. If Jalen made 1 more shot his shooting % would be close to being identical to Kyle's. Jalen is 3rd in the A-10, for 3 pointers made and is 13th in 3 point accuracy. Jalen is 4th in scoring in the A-10 at 20.4 ppg. and is 3rd in free throw % at 91.7%. Attempted free throws is an important stat as it indicates the effectiveness of a player taking the ball to the basket. Bonnies have 2 very good guards taking it to the basket as Jalen is 9th in A-10 in free throw attempts, while Kyle is 10th. -- Osun has displayed shot blocking abilities we haven't seen since Andrew. He is currently leading the A-10 in blocks per game with 3.0 bpg. Osun leads the team, making 52.4% of his shots. Osun shows potential on the offensive end, but his offensive game disappeared at Cayman Tournament. Disappointments -- Nelson looked solid against Bucknell, but has struggled since. Last year his 41.7% shooting from the field was the worse on the team. It is even worse so far this year with him shooting 30.6% from the field and just 17.6% from 3s. Nelson always had a solid assist/turnover ratio, but currently has more turnovers than assists (10/12). -- Amadi is a solid rebounder, but this year Chef is the team's leading rebounder with 28. Amadi's 20 rebounds is just 3 more than Kyle with 17. Even worse is his offense making just 38.1% from the field, which is barely better than Dom who attempts majority of his shots from 3s. Amadi has the 2nd worse scoring average on the team at 3.8 ppg, which is barely better than Alpha's 2.6 ppg. Prior to the start of the season, I thought Bonnies could have a good season if; Courtney is near the top of the A-10 in scoring, LaDarien adds a jump shot to his game, Jalen becomes a star and is the team's 2nd leading scorer and at least 1 freshman plays solid and has starter minutes (I was expecting Dom or Osun). As it stands right now, the Bonnies look like they can meet the expectations I had for them. -- Of the above, Courtney being one of the leading scorers in the A-10 seemed the most likely to occur. -- It was just 1 game, but LaDarien displayed a solid 15 foot jump shot against Bucknell. -- Jalen has been a star for the Bonnies. There have been times where he was carrying the team. He leads the Bonnies in scoring by a large margin with 102 points (Kyle is next with 74). He leads Bonnies with 24 free throw attempts (Kyle has 23, but next closest is Osun with 14 and he is last Bonnie in double digit FT attempts). Jalen has to cut down on his turnovers. -- Never expected Kyle to be such a solid point guard. He is a great man defender, can score in the paint, has a solid jump shot and leads the team in assists. He needs to cut down on the turnovers. With the return of Courtney and LaDarien, the Bonnies will have a solid starting lineup with Osun, LaDarien, Courtney, Jalen and Kyle. Bonnies just need a couple player to step up to be quality reserve players. I still think Bonnies can have a winning season. gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/m-baskbl/2018-19/files/TEAMCUME.HTMwww.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/stats/leaders/ATL10/BLKAVG/regularseason/yearly

What team can lose its top two players and possibly 4 of the top 6 or 7 and survive? How do the GS Warriors look the last two weeks without Curry?
Agree totally that our season starts in two weeks or maybe January 1. Remember last year... 2-4 start with A-10 season and most of the posters were ready to jump off the bandwagon.
Lofton is a great addition... just need Welch and OO to continue to develop — and see what Melki has to offer.

Should the 6 assists today be a concern, or should it just be expected with so much inexperience on the court? Will the BONNIES' s guards be able to get the ball to MELKI, LADARIAN, & COURTNEY when they return?

Will the BONNIES' s guards be able to get the ball to MELKI, LADARIAN, & COURTNEY when they return? I don't think 6 assists should be a concern, as a number, the greater problem was the number of baskets made.....hard to have too many assists when many shots are missed. Although there was seemingly a lot of one-on-one play, which could be a problem, but may have been caused by lack of penetration. I think today's problem was Poyser being worn down...he played 40, 37 and 39 minutes in 3 consecutive days, with Lofton 38, 34 and 40...lots of minutes in 3 days. We can only hope for the return of COurtney and LaDarien and play like we know they are capable of.....then a good team. but for now we can only dream.
