I hope LL does not hustle. Just like Jim Brown never hustled to get up and get back to the huddle when he played for the Cleveland Browns. Another who never hustled was Wilt Chamberlain. He lolly gagged down the court after a basket. If LL can come close to any of those stars the Bonnies will be in good shape.

Did anyone notice the puff of smoke from behind the fence at the 1:27 mark, or the man with the umbrella at 1:28?

Chuck, I'd like to begin by thanking you for debating the points and not resorting to the childish name-calling and arguing that is all too frequent on this board. It's fair to say we see things very differently but we at least both agree that the video only offers a very limited and biased look into Leonard's ability.
I am going to have to stand firm on the segment at the 1:03 mark because it's hard for me to see any other reason why he would opt not to chase down the VVC player who is off on a fast break. He very well could have caught up to the player. I understand cherry picking has its place and it's rewards, but to me it's not nearly as respectable as a player who hustles down the court to stop every point. I had my problems with Relph but the one thing I can say about him is that he went after every shot like it pained him to see the opponent score a single point. That's the kind of player I like which is why I posted the Ben Watson clip which, on a side note, happens to be my favorite play in the NFL of all time and is an excellent example of good competitive hustle.
I gotta say that I had to laugh at your remark about the possibility of an outlet pass. I sure hope Leonard wasn't back there because he had just thrown a long outlet pass because that means it would have been to the VVC player!
I'll concede that it's not possible to make a definite conclusion about any of the video with such a limited view but I would be interested in getting some thoughts from other posters as well.

OK, will someone back me on this and explain that this whole discussion is absolutely ridiculous. I watched the video a few times and everytime you saw Leonard, it was at the backend of a play, meaning nobody knows what happened leading up to that point!!!!! In order to judge someone on being a lazy player or not giving it all, you have to see the whole play and more than juss .4 seconds of a crappy video clip all about a different team. I just see no reason to even have this discussion because anything anyone says is based on a combined 7 seconds of video, and anyone who knows anything about basketball knows you cannot judge a player with 7 seconds of video.

I'll back you. I have no idea why posters would take time to speculate on what was happening beyond the camera in these short snippets. I watched and learned virtually nothing about whether Leonard is a good prospect or not. I see no need to criticize a future Bonnie from anything seen in this video. I'll have faith that Schmidt and company did their homework on him.
Welcome aboard Leonard!

I'll also agree. Totally ridiculous that somebody would form a conclusion about a recruit based on poorly-edited snippets from an opposing team's highlight film. Also totally predictable and expected from those on this board. Somebody scowered the Internet for clips from a game that happened to be against Leonard's team, and now people need something to talk about and overanalyze. Accept the fact this is awful footage that tells us nothing about our recruit, and let's move on.

Isn't it amazing that when 2 posters have a quite civil, point-by-point debate, other posters jump in and criticize them for it. I said in each of my posts that I know it isn't a fair assessment, but I'm looking more at what it DOES say than what it doesn't. I found the clip by typing in "San Bernardino Valley College" into YouTube, so don't think I "scoured" the internet for it. Again, it is far from a complete assessment but I would argue that you would be wrong to say that it says nothing about him. We get a peek into how he reacts in game situations and when he is faced with different things to respond to. It is the only video that I can find of Leonard and I think it does in fact give us insight (however limited that may be) into his style of play.

Really?
I agree with 123, Lums and Co.
This is almost as absurd as when Fox wrote that he thought Andy Smith might be the next 2,000 point scorer after an '03 exhibition game.

Agree with the following in regards to the video clip: 1. Can't tell if Leonard is dogging it. 2. Can't tell how good of a prospect Leonard is. 3. Unfair speculations were made.
Disagree with the following in regards to the video clip. 1. What is wrong with over analyzing. Some of the best threads throughout the season was from over analyzing. Much rather see threads over analyze a recruit than just having his position, height and school listed. 2. What is wrong with "scouring the internet" for news on the Bonnies? While I disagree with STUD, I am thankful to him for providing this video of Leonard.
Did gain something from the video. Realized Leonard is probably (want to stress word probably) more of a guard than a forward. Considering he is one of the taller players on his team and he is playing out front of the zone. Now I wonder if he is big enough to play the 3 spot for the Bonnies. Still believe Leonard is a great signing for the Bonnies.

It's very hard from the video to ascertain whether or not Leonard is really not playing his best, as far as I can tell. I know one thing...the last shot that is taken, he does his best to disrupt the shooter and the shot is way off the mark. Based on video taken for the opposing team, I'd say this is NOT incriminating against Leonard's defense. If anything, I'd say it says a lot FOR his defense. Let's give the young man a chance to show what he can do....

WOW! I don't ever want to hear people complain about football talk after reading this.
