You old people are so annoying. Sure, not everyone has the same passion as you did maybe when the Bonnies were the best team in the world. If people don't wanna go to the games, then they don't have to go to the games. I for one stand in the front row everygame and scream my face off, but I understand why other students have no passion. Growing up they saw nothing about St. Bona, most students probably never even had heard of them until they were looking for schools to go to. The students will come when there is excitement in the building, and Fordham and the other fans didn't really provide that. But other than that, who the hell cares. Sorry we lost the game for you guys. Apology not accepted; you didn't lose anything. Thank you for standing in the front row and being a fan. Growing up, I never saw anything about St. Bona, and probably gave half a terd about the team upon arrival. As time went on, I went to more games, got bombed, and use some games as a reference point when trying to remember something. Yeah, I went there from 97-01, and got to see the team evolve from what it was, to its height, and have been following ever since. To someone else's point, yeah, you get to see some of the country's best at the RC. On my college visit, I got to see Rhode Island from the nose bleeds. That team had some studs including the recently retired Cutino Mobley. Years later, I got to talk smack to Lamar Odom from my aisle idiot seat. We were smashed and yapping at him during warm-ups. He looked over. That's my Lamar Odom story. Now when the Lakers are on the tube, I get to share that story. I was also there for the cookie incident. A few years back, I was a volunteer baseball coach at my high school and on our way back from Florida, word got to me that Mike Jarvis was on the plane. I casually moseyed my way to his part of the plane and handed him a napkin that read, "Bonnies vs. Johnnies." He laughed and said never and commented that he hated playing at the RC. Anyway, at luggage claim, I think his son told him that I was referring to him as Uncle Phil, a name that was hung on him and chanted visciously at the RC, so as he approached me, he said, "Uncle Phil, ha..." and gave me a few shots to the chest--all fun and games. Thank goodness I attended games. My contemporaries might not have been thrilled I was there, but they're over it now. Point is, all you gotta do is be there. Let's get over losing to Fordham at home--at least we beat them at Rose Hill this year. I got to see it and I smashed the RC clapping tune on the pan wielded by the one and only Freddy Sez. Cheers jerks.

Sorry we lost the game for you guys. "Old people"? I'm class of 2006, buck-o, and I can tell you that the student section was a HELL of a lot louder and passionate than it is today and we were freshmen the year of the scandal. Heck, I know of quite a few posters who have graduated in the past 10 years and they'd all say the same thing. This isn't some conspiracy in which everyone is just ganging up on the current student section. It's just a fact that the past two years have been unbelievably lack luster when it comes to home court advantage... and that has EVERYTHING to do with any school's student section. Also, can everyone please stop implying that anyone is saying the piss poor student support had anything to do with last night's loss? Nobody is saying that. All that has been pointed out is that this team is competitive again and we see less and less true enthusiasm from that section. It's just disappointing... that's all. We expect more.

heemeehead: I was there while you guys were pulling Odon's chain. I saw him look over at you. Something else was going on that night. Were you guys trying to get onto ESPN Sportscenter, or was it the night Bonas unveiled the Wolf?

Now THAT's something to remember ! When I lived on Long Island, I attended many Yankees games at the stadium and Freddy was a fixture. He'll be 84 this year, and I hope they let him continue his tradition at the new stadium (unlike the way they've treated the Bleacher Creatures - rumor has it Bald Vinnie retired after the last game at the old stadium and won't be leading the "Roll Call" anymore).
That would have made a great YouTube video - the RC clapping tune on Freddy's pan !

Young or Old, people seem to have trouble understanding that there isn't as much passion about the Bonnies anymore. Is it sad? yes. Is it understandable? I would certainly say so. I for one am not going to be that guy who tells all the students they have to be more passionate. I wish everyone else was to, but you win some you lose some. Most of the students first experience with Bonaventure was the scandal. Oh the excitement!! I for one am lucky to not have that be the case, and I think that is the sole reason that I developed into a huge fan, because I at least know what can be. But I don't blame others for not understanding that. Additionally, the St. Bonaventure police decided to write up students preparing for a game at 5:00 on a Wednesday. Some fun.

not to mention that ridicolous security at the games. If we get too into it with a player, we get escorted out of the game. One game last year a few of my friends and I harmlessly went to the other side of the course to chat it up with the players from a respective distance. Only to get escorted away. It has truly gotten ridicolous. We can't really say anything so keep that in mind.

Ed Corbett Sr. was reffing the game and the brown capitol city goofball was retired and the wolf was unveiled. Somehow, we sneaked in root beer schnapps and drank it up. then we did some drunk sprints back to Shay for some shotguns. The poop sign was not invented yet.

In what is ultimately a "chicken & egg" argument, one quote sums it up: Boohoo, we're not North Carolina. Ask not what your college basketball team can do for you, ask what you can do for your college basketball team. Additionally, especially after getting a load of the sorry attitudes of current students, I feel the Solomon philosophy applies to the student body. Our team will be good again, some say, as soon as we weed out Solomon's recruits and Schmidt gets his own players on board. The same applies to students, and as soon as we weed out those who "only know losing," we'll have a lot more winners, far fewer excuses and a louder Reilly Center. Look, nobody cares to hear you bellyache about how bad the team was when you were a freshman. Why? Because my friends and I were having our senior years pissed on by a team that won two (2) games, but we never let it stop us from coming out and giving 100 percent the home game. Nobody wants to hear the "we only know losing excuse." If somebody writes on this message board, there's an extremely high chance that guy has weathered the same storm about which you're bickering -- and we're still as passionate as ever! Why? Because we're Bonaventure Men, and we have these: In the mean time, grow a pair, suck it up, crush some tough guy sodas, and yell your ass off. Hell, you might end up helping Bona's beat a ranked team. I've seen it happen, and happen again, not too long ago.

We were 0-16 in the A-10 my frosh year '93 and the was one of the most fun I had in the student section. If we had one dunk the place would go nuts, even if we were down 20. You got to get on the other team more. Step it up!

insert "your own generic heroic story of how you cheered so much harder when you were in school" quote here

Insert "lame excuse as to why you have the best team in almost a decade and you and your peers still don't cheer or really understand what basketball is or means at St. Bonaventure" here.

Insert "I go to Bona games as a social statement more than anything else. The game? Oh, I guess I hope they win, but whatever. It isn't like they're Duke. Wait... isn't Becca going to be there? Yeah, I'm definitely going to that game to be seen" excuse here.
