The Elmira Classic just might be a back door ticket to play the larger schools in a neutral setting if this is how they play their tourneys.
Rochester? I'm glad SBU has a lot of Alums from there, its just too far in the wrong direction.

bona84. . thank you for not taking a stupid message board personally.
While we all bicker and piss I think this year is a turning point.
My argument is that a smut big east team should not dictate where we play. Why not get a home and home with them? I just hate these rochester buffalo games being ticketed as "the big game". And yes eks there is a ton of alumni outside of olean. . .and they aren't in buffalo and rochester. They're in Philadelphia, Nyc, California, Dallas, Boston, etc.
We travel. Because we got an education that allows us to afford it.
Teams should come to bonas because bonas commands respect.
edit to add: "we got" should be "we have"
sorry bonnieball

Just out of curiosity, what is the biggest alumni base outside of Rochester and Buffalo? Great question. For alumns of the past 10 years or so, I'd say Charlotte. Overall, I'd probably go with NYC area, just because of the size of the city and proximity to SBU. Would be interested in hearing the actual answer though. I was surprised somebody had mentioned Dallas. When I lived there 10 years ago, I had asked the alumni association if there was a local chapter or how many alumns lived there. No organized chapter and was told roughly 20 alumns but I don't know how accurate or how time was spent in looking up that info for me.

charlotte is a great call for recent alumni. I can't count the number of my buddies that moved there after graduation on 10 hands.
It has to be new york city. I'd throw the Denver area in there too as well as Cleveland.
And now I just feel like I'm naming cities I know so I'll stop.
18 wins.

Here is a senario. I wonder when we scheduled the Rochester game if it would have been possible to have gotten that game if it had to be played away from Olean in NYC. As long as St. John's wouldn't come to Olean, if the game was in the Gaden we could have gotten the exposure and given the NYC alumni a look at supporting the Bonnies. Probably impossible to schedule the Garden ,but the loss of local fans and the pick up of media and allumni viewing might draw more interest. Realistically, outside of Rochester alumni ,a few Olean area fans will only make the weekday trip. Just a suggestion.

awesome idea but the only way I think it would happen is if it was some sort of ocs tournament. And if it did ever occur I'd bet it'd be 95% bona fans.

bona84. . .go screw. enough of this "were a small school. we need to attract bcs schools by getting on our knees and fondling some johnsons" shut up. we can play with anyone. if you're such a good team then come to the rc. I understand revenue and travel expense plays a part but those "bcs" schools should relish the fact of playing in such a hostile environment. That's why syracuse is such a joke. They schedule a lay up out of conference where they barley leave their own backyard. this board infuriates me. Another fine example of the type of person SBU is admitting these days. Ugh, God bonnieball, you really are unbelievable. You are so freaking miserable it's not even funny. Stop preaching to twenty-somethings about being rude. It's clear you've gotten no joy from life in the past 10 years other than calling the cops on the black kids playing basketball in the street and walking on your side walk. TIMES HAVE CHANGED, GET USED TO IT.

While perhaps not to be taken too seriously, the information sharing and conversation has value to our common interests - Bonaventure and the Bonnies. That's why I visit and sometimes contribute. I just hope you don't often start your interactions with others by telling them to "go screw."

Stop preaching to twenty-somethings about being rude. Bonnieball, I am in absolute, total, 100 %, complete agreement with bricksmyth. If someone hasn't explained the concept of civility to the little ones in their formative years, it does no good to try to do so once they reach adulthood.

and res. . .we get it. you like backhanded comments. God bless St. Bonas. If you mean that I like to play the sarcasm card now and again, I'm afraid you are correct. It's one of my many failings. I love your passion, though. And even though I'm no Franciscan, and that by a long shot, I agree, God bless St. Bona.

I thought that the title of this post was Bona home games. It seems to me that most of this is just a bunch of BS, it has nothing to do with Bona basketball. Why don't you just stick to the subject, that is if you know anything about Bonnies basketball. This sounds like a bunch of little kids calling each other names. Grow up!
