Does anyone know how or why he'd be eligible this year? I thought all D-1 to D-1 transfers had to sit out a year, even when the first school releases. This is true for sophomores, juniors and seniors. Believe if a school releases a freshman he does not have to sit out. This was complicated by Brett taking a couple summer school classes. Since he is eligible to play for the Bonnies I'm assuming the cut off date must be the start of the fall semester. Bonnies had the same situation after the scandal. Dan Cage and Patrick Tatham asked and received their release from St. Bonaventure and they played that fall.

Can "The Professor" be put on an academic scholarship? That would free the athletic scholarship for Chandler. Love that idea...

Looks to be a done deal, this is what i found when googling Brett's name:
Elsewhere: Former Quakertown basketball standout Brett Roseboro obtained a release from Marquette and will transfer to St. Bonaventure, said Quakertown coach Kevin Keeler. . . . Duquesne extended the contract of women's basketball coach Suzie McConnell-Serio, the former Penn State and WNBA star, through the 2013-14 season. . . . Indiana agreed to move a home football game against Penn State next season to FedEx Field, home of the Washington Redskins. The Hoosiers will get $3 million for moving the game on Nov. 20, 2010.

don't think the academic scholarship for Andrew works. NCAA limits number of scholarships (doesn't specify athletic or academic). A story I heard in 1989, Pat Driscoll could have played for the Bonnies (he was the manager, and now a big-time ref), but in order to do so, he would have had to forfeit his academic scholarship as we were over the limit. It was his choice, play or pay for school. He decided to keep the scholarship

I think an academic sholarship would not work, but if one of the players had big time financial need and qualified for need-based financial aid in the same way as a non-athlete at SBU would qualify I think that would be ok.
