I'm with back nine on this one. Andrew should apologize both in the press and to Rautins directly(if he hasn't already). Sure Rautins is that annoying kid that everyone wants to knock down, but that doesn't mean that what Andy did was right. Gotta be the bigger man and acknowledge that he went too far. A public apology might even have some sway with whomever is making the decision about further disciplinary action. Go Bonnies!

Bona66, it is great that you were at the game with good seat but can you explain how you saw the play clearly and it took a while for Andy to have a reaction. Also, the refs had not idea what happened until they went to review the play. Not to mention coach B himself said he didn't see anything. I am not calling you a liar but every replay I have seen I did not see anything. So for you to say you saw it clearly is hard for me to believe. It sounds like if Rautins didn't act like he just got shot nothing would have happened.

Andrew has absolutely NOTHING to apologize for. The guys in stripes should be handing out apologies for ejecting the best player on the court over a phantom nut punch. Rautins should be embarassed after the act he put on.
4 rows up? Sweet seats, could you stroke Boeheim from there?

BONA66, since you were there and I only saw it on TV, I am not sure ANDREW is as guilty as some are making it or in my case, as innocent as I believe. I think he hit RAUTINS, not sure how hard or what intent, but I also think that worm RAUTINS took a dive and blew the incident out of proportion to get ANDREW ejected. Why did no SYRACUSE players rush after ANDREW? Personally, if someone hit me there, unless I'm unconscious, I'm up and after that person. I wouldn't lie there and cry to the refs.

So does anyone actually have an answer to the original question? Here is all I could find:
For any flagrant technical or flagrant personal foul committed by a coach, squad member, team attendant or follower, two free throws shall be awarded; and the offender shall go to the team’ s locker room until the game ends. A double flagrant technical foul results in no free throws being awarded and automatic ejection of both offenders.
Any squad member, coach or team personnel who participates in a fight shall be assessed the penalty for a flagrant foul. The first time that individual participates in a fight during the season; the individual will be suspended from participating in the team’ s next game. If the same individual participates in a second fight, that individual will be suspended for the remainder of the season, including tournament competition. Any player, coach or team personnel who participates in a fight during his or her team’ s final game of the season will be suspended from playing in the team’ s next regular-season game for which that individual would be eligible. Any player, coach or team personnel under suspension for fighting may not sit on the team bench.

Players whine constantly about being fouled...When did the officials start reviewing fouls?
I understand it was to the groin area (not sure if that should even make a difference). If you don't see it, you don't call it! Rautins and the home crowd clearly got that call. Not sure if they are using the same video as we saw, but from the replays we were seeing ..There was nothing clearly visible to support a flagrant foul!

Good question Phantom, can we start asking for reviews on some of SU's fouls? I watched the game on TW and has been stated, there was no clear shot that they showed. And the Academy Award for greatest acting job by a dbag goes to....Andy Rautins.

I was at the game, about 10 rows off the floor behind the basket SU was shooting at in the 2nd half and had a clear view of "incident." Let me back up a bit though to a few minutes before to paint a clearer picture of how/why this might have transpired.
After Rautins hit the second of his back-to-back daggers midway through the half, and Schmidt called a TO, Rautins starting talking a ton of trash while on his way to the SU bench. Nicholson and Conger were the main recipients by virtue of their location to him, but you could see both Conger and Nicholson give Rautins a stare - not sure if words were exchanged.
Then, a few possessions later, Nicholson gave up an offensive board and put back to Jackson, and you could tell he was a little perturbed by it. It was then a few seconds later that he "hit" Rautins below the belt.
To the "incident" itself ... I honestly did not see the contact myself, however I did catch Nicholson's arm moving away from Rautins' groin as he fell to the floor. I deduced from that that Nicholson did in fact hit him, and watching Nicholson closely after the "incident," his body language didn't exactly give the impression of someone who was innocent. I personally think he hit him below the belt intentionally, and he's the LAST person on our roster who I would think would do something like that.
With all of that being said, and I haven't seen a replay yet, but it sounds to me like the video everyone else saw was inconclusive - even SU students who were doing the radio post-game said they thought it was inconclusive. As far as I know, the only replays the refs can see are the replays the TV broadcast has, right? If that is the case, then how can they possibly kick him out of the game based on an inconclusive replay(s)?

There sure wasn't conclusive evidence on the tv replays they showed that would warrant an ejection. Heard on the UNC-Texas broadcast that Carolina was upset by the heckling at MSG when they played Cuse. Apparently, the Cuse players now talk s*** as much as their fans. Shocking.

I was at the game, didn't see what happened (and neither did 99% of the SU fans who were yelling kick him out)..........but I too am wondering since when is this a reviewable call?
And, I just had the feeling that once they were reviewing it, and the fans wanted blood, that there was going to be an ejection of some sort........Apparently, from an inconclusive replay!

I would like to hear Andrew's side to the story. I am pretty sure this was a provoked reaction and Rautins mouth must have been running. We established ourselves as a legitimate program last night and should be a force to reckon with in league play. Congers and Davenport are really stepping up. Expect the Bonnies to finish real strong in 2010. Boheim will be true to form and reschedule after Andrew has graduated. Good game but we need to play other big programs if we can only schedule road games. I said it before. We need to move on from Syracuse unless they are ready to play us in Buffalo in a reciprocal matchup. Boheim is pissed he didn't land Nicholson and I think he is worried that Schmidt will start to recruit the same players in this region and have some success. Hopkins will be about 60 when Boheim finally hands over the reigns. Another guy who is afraid to take a chance on a head coaching position.
