Lex James verballed to Rhode Island in the Fall of 2004. They wouldn't admit him because of academics. Don't know where he will wind up now. He is still at CCSF for now.

Max. scholarships is 13. Benson's signing took Gibbs' 'ship; someone else must leave for Osby. BVA is correct, there are currently 14 scholarship players on the roster. Apparently Benson is taking Gibbs scholarship, which gives the Bonnies the maximum of 13 (as stated by BVA). Well I've heard a rumor "it was imperative" for a current scholarship player to do well on his finals. Hopefully it is not true, but now I wonder with the Bonnies recruiting another player.

14-ships on the roster, a couple of walk-ons from last year....a possible transfer....any updates on the UPenn big man from Rochester?
anyway do we still have a JV-team...in my SBU-years (1975-79)...the 1-2 last guys on the bench played with the JV....joining some pretty outstanding players, didn't they play JUCO-teams, Div3, other JVs?
remember- Billy "sightseeing" Seitz....rumor was he practiced with the Varsity because he was the only one who could guard Glenn Hagan. He had an outstanding HS-career...playing with Bill Willow-by.....the first HS player to jump to the NBA.... SBU's own version of Jim Carroll!

My guess is Boom will not be announced as a scholarship player.
He probably, with his grades, would be eligible for a few "need based" and academic scholarships.

When are grades announced? Are finals over?

Finals are indeed over. There probably won't be any official announcement of grades because of the stickiness of FERPA regulations and considering how paranoid the administration is about those regulations and any info leaking to the media.

Grades for underclassmen, were posted on Monday, Wally. My questions are: regardless of FERPA, won't the university sooner or later have to make an announcemnet saying "the player in question" has been suspended? If that announcement doesn't come (no suspension), do we hold our collective breaths and wait for one? What if summer classes boost his GPA? There's really no immediate timeline for something like this.

Interesting comment about the possibility of a needs based or academic scholarship. I'm stunned that the NCAA wouldn't prohibit something like that.

You would think that would be illegal, but you often see with transfers that they will pay their way or get an academic scholarship the first year so that way the university does not eat up a roster space for that current season.

Love reading all the comments and debate, and I'm very excited about the possibility of picking up a transfer from a high major program, but remember, there is still nothing DEFINITE yet on this matter.
He did visit, had a wonderful time, and things look very positive I'm told, but you know how often 18-year-olds change their mind. A little temperance is in order, especially on my part.
I think he got too far away from home (Richmond to New Mexico) and got a little homesick, and wants to get back East. Plus the fact that we play Richmond twice a season helps our recruiting of him.
But I just read that Richmond had a scholarship open up because they lost a commitment to Virginia Tech, and that worries me. Don't know if they are on Bombala also, but it seems like an even more ideal situation for him. Hopefully our "salesmen" are better than their "salesmen", and can sell him on St. Bonaventure.

The discussion on this board is great. It makes it easier that there are discussion threads on this board as opposed to the voy board. I will be very interested in the caliber of recruits that the coaching staff reels in the 06 and 07 class, especially if this team turns the corner next season and wins somewhere above 10 wins.
