After tweeting Bonas offer to Abou Ousmane, Rivals Corey Evans adds "one of the better low post bigs now back on the board." Abou would be a solid recruit for Schmidt.
Information on Abou Ousmane with comments from Adam Finkelstein.
-- 6'9" 225 pound post player. Has a 7'3" wing span.
-- Rivals 3 star recruit. Has Power 6 offers from Georgetown and Texas A&M.
-- "Wider frame but agile feet along with equally soft hands and touch."
-- “Old-school way in that he’s a low post scoring threat who can operate with his back to the basket."
-- "Isn’t a naturally explosive athlete. He’s not going to win any dunking contests or play up at the top of the box."
-- "Added to his face-up tools from 15-feet and in, especially around the elbow areas."
Abou Ousamane timeline
-- 2018-2019 played at Putnam. He was a teammate of Justin Winston, until Justin left Putnam.
-- At conclusion of season Abou committed to Cleveland State, but changed his mind after a coaching change.
-- This season he played for Scotland Campus, who ended the season as the 5th ranked prep school in the nation.
-- Averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds at Scotland Campus. Teammate is PG Norance 'Tres' Berry another player recently offered by the Bonnies.
-- On Monday gave verbal with Rhode Island. Today Abou withdrew his verbal. Attached article believes 4 star Mitchell twins verbal with RI, is the reason for Abou changing his mind.
Abou and Louth-Mohamed Coulibaly appear to be completely different type of players. Abou is less athletic, but has a developed post game. He also can hit the 15 footer. Louth is an explosive athlete, who needs to develop his post game and jump shot.
