I know Coach Schmidt tends to never use his last available scholarship but we can still talk about possible options and especially since there isn't a ton to talk about during this tough time. With Robert Carpenter transferring out we could use another big to add some depth to OO and Shaw so what about using it on a grad transfer big with experience and immediate eligibility. I saw that Pittsburgh's 6'9 Kene Chukwuka is in the portal and available. He didn't play this past season because of hip surgery so I am not sure how healthy he is but he seems like a high upside type player with ACC experience and baring his injury even if he could provide 8-12 minutes would be a huge help and we would still have an open scholarship after next season. He participated in Pitts senior day this past season even though he wasn't playing and will be graduating this spring. He is from Sweden so he would also provide some St. Bonaventure marketing and fan base in Sweden! lol Also, I was just curious if anyone else noticed this about the transfer "portal". It seems like more college football players who enter the portal still make it known that they might return to there school and that there just seeing what other options they might have but for college basketball I haven't really seen many players enter the portal and then decide to return to there school. Does football have a different rule? If not, could Carpenter decide to return? pittsburghpanthers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/kene-chukwuka/10390www.cardiachill.com/2020/2/26/18295690/samson-george-kene-chukwuka-pitt-panthers-basketball-pf-senior-night-syracuse-jeff-capel-eligibility

Does anyone know what happened with 7'0 Jeriah Coleman from Alaska via Virgina Sports Academy? We offered him last September and wasn't he going to visit but then he ended up not coming? Do you know any information regarding that? He still hasn't committed anywhere and I feel like we are his best offer. His other offers I believe are Coppin State, Mississippi Valley State, Bowling Green and Hampton. He seems like a late bloomer and he would be able to practice and learn from Osun. He also has a younger brother who is very good and I think it would be awesome to get a 7'0 this late!

Sign me up for a 7 footer with mobility and a talented younger brother at this point.
But I question the opposition in those highlight videos.

No idea if we are still involved, but think he indicated on twitter a decision was coming next week or so. I assume we're not at this point. No indication that his visit was ever rescheduled or happened. Maybe he got on a Zoom call, but I have a lot of doubt that we're going to get anyone else coming in now. It looks like Coppin State was the last offer in on Coleman and I bet he lands there.

I bet he lands at Coppin State to play for Juan Dixon as well. With graduation and transfers there are only returning 5 players I believe.

Like many of us, I was/am still holding out for a big. Perhaps Chuck was right, maybe Coach Schmidt is ok with where he's at. In past years, it's been over this period of time, when we've found somebody. Jaylen Adams, Marcus Posley, Isaiah Brockinton. If you look at the transfer portal alone, there are guys out there. This staff has been uncanny in it's ability to find guys.
I saw Hima. the 6'11' kid from St Benedict's signed with Duquesne.
There is some confusion about whether Coleman signed with St Francis, I think Verbal Commits listed Sacred Heart, some place else besides us.
There was an interesting piece on Twitter last night that was from an article in the St Louis Post Dispatch that the President of St Lous University, raised the prospect that under certain budget constraints they may not be able to field a basketball team. When I read the article it seemed more like the Prep was saying if students don't come back, they would face certain budget constraints. I don't think it was earth shattering, I think the Pres was just voicing what a lot of schools are thinking.
I am going to remain optimistic that we can safely get our players back to campus for part of the summer and I am hoping that schools can develop a plan whereby students an come back in the fall.

Transfers are still occurring but big men are getting thin. Some feel SCHMIDT will save the last ship incase a surprise recruit transfer comes along, but wouldn't ROBERTS be considered that? The staff replaced AMADI with SHAW, but with both 6-8 PLANUTIS & CARPENTER leaving, only METCALF has been signed as a replacement.

The staff replaced AMADI with SHAW, but with both 6-8 PLANUTIS & CARPENTER leaving, only METCALF has been signed as a replacement. Amadi and Carpenter combined for 4 pts and 4 boards a game. Carpenter was a non factor. Amadi had a few decent moments and was a solid teammate and backup. Planutis seems like a great guy and played hard, but he was a mess more times than not. I’m not saying it’s addition by subtraction, but ... The Shaw-Creal-Adaway combo will be a vast improvement over the three departures. Not sure how much time Metcalf will see in place of those 3 players. Shaw brings size and athleticism for a big. Creal sounds like a tough dude who will bring what we were missing last year. Adaway is the top athlete on the team and had some really nice games in the MAC. He’s had a year to learn our system and Schmidt sounds amped about Adaway, from what I’ve heard.
