I have questioned the decisions of the administrators of this board privately for a while but try to keep those frustrations to myself unless something egregious happens. Obviously being an admin on here is a thankless job, and Bonas08 has had more important matters to attend to with his health. With that caveat out of the way.
What FirstDev has been allowed to post on this board during this offseason was allowed to go on for too long. The LesterGreen account if it existed before this summer it was not a volume contributor (hard to verify now that the account has been removed). His account was born out of the nonsense that was allowed all offseason.
Was the LesterGreen bit a little played out and trying too hard? Yes, but this account a lot like other banned/maligned accounts had coherent basketball posts 50% of the time and added a little levity to this place that is often a hellscape.
I am not up to date on the exchange that got the account banned, but as others have posted if something extremely terrible was said or at least something the breaks terms of service, remove the post, deal with the owner of the account directly.
There are several accounts that deserve to be banned/warned about behavior through PM but LesterGreen generally isn’t one of them. There are accounts that contribute less than 0 to any actual discussion and they continue to be allowed post and are engaged with regularly. There is a block feature that greatly improves this site, if Lester bothers people so much those people can use the OO feature or just scroll on by. There are days I get on here after a loss and 3/4s of a page are blocked/ignored posts. It makes this place somewhat more bearable.
If you are starting to wonder why am I even on here if so much of the discourse is noise/frustrating to me. And I have begun to ask myself the same question. However I’m addicted to the Bonnies. I spend 40+ hours a week glued to a computer that has most social media sites blocked and this site is allowed and gives me mini hits of the Bonnies dopamine.

I'm not against banning certain posts. I would ban every pointless ejaculation about someone or some team defecating the place of repose. I'd also ban those that are just repetitive and pointless criticisms of the team or certain players. After a while, if certain users were racking up a lot of such demerits, I'd consider banning them and advise them of such. Like jive, I seem to have an addiction to Bona fandom, but the level of discourse here has become so disappointing that it's actually reducing the amount of financial support I give the institution.
I appreciate the amount of time and effort the administrators put in here, but there needs to be more thoughtful editing.

A couple of observations: - thank you Lester for falling on your sword and getting our minds and texts off of the Canisius game - is it true that Bob Dylan is considering writing a song about freeing Lester? - I agree about the comparisons to First Dev, who makes me wonder if he ever listened to a homily regarding compassion and trying to see someone else's point of view. - I vote that Lester is allowed back on - but ban his jibberish posts. I am not hip enough to follow them, and too old to want to try to decipher them.  |
