UMass game was pretty interesting I just saw the second half apparently UMass was chucking the ball from 3 in the first half and decided to drive the ball the second half. The Minutemen almost fouled out a good portion of the Billiken's team, or at least it seemed that way. Noah Fernandez, the UMass point and Garcia, kind of the back up point were huge for UMass. SLU got a great game from Hatch, I think he had 20 and nearly won the game for them.

This was a real good game with tons of intensity. UMASS guards Fernandez and Garcia guards attacked the rim with success. Combined for 39 pts. No one could stay in front of them. They demonstrated the value of penetrating guards that finish and can make the trey. They were 12 of 17.
In watching a lot of A10 games many arenas are empty. Not Dayton (13K+), Bona faithful have been fantastic in their turn out. The home crown against VCU

Wow, GW rallied from a terrible start to shock host URI 63-61.
Some doings happening in the Bronx...Fordham shut down the potent Davidson offence (just 7 hoops and 2 treys) in the opening 20 and leads 31-24 at the break.

Davidson down 24-31 against Fordham at Rose Hill.
I am watching Rams defense totally frustrate Davidson shooters. They were called for a T as a result of their inability to score.
Of course Davidson could come back and put up 50 the 2nd half.

Davidson squeaks by Fordham in the Bronx, great game. 15 straight for Davidson, they are tough and disciplined team.

Davidson pretty fortunate not to be called for a foul on a 3 point shot at the end of the game. For those that think that 3 point shooters don't have off nights - Davidson, an excellent 3 point shooting team, shot 3 for 13 or 23% today.

Quisenberry had a heck of a game for Fordham with 36 pts. Rams had 10 treys in 31 tries to 3/14 for Davidson. But Cats made up the difference at the line (24 to 14). Brajkovic (21) and Mennenga (16/11) saved their bacon.

But Davidson only squeaked by Fordham. That means they’re terrible.
Yes, that’s how dumb some of you sound.

Enjoyed watching Fordham push Davidson to the very end. They were down 1 with 5 secs to play. McKillop leaves Rose Hill breathing easy continuing his hot run.
Rams were up 7 at the half but pushed it to 13 with 17 mins to play. At that point Kelly committed a stupid T costing Fordham 4 pts. That was the turning point to the Davidson come back.
The sparks flew in this game. "Ts" called against both teams.
Davidson was clearly frustrated with the effective intensity of the Ram D. But the size of of LUKA (6 10/250) and MENNENGA (6'9/245) dominated the paint and Fordham had no one to stop their easy jump hooks and easy put backs. OSUN should study tape of the 2nd half to see how EASY they demonstrated their unstoppable jump hooks !!!. Osun has the size and length to make that a go to score a high % of the time. It has eluded his repertoire of put backs and dunks.
Watched a good shooting team make only 23% of their treys. It happens! And their 42% FGs would be far lower if not for the 2 big guys scoring at will deep in the paint. They combined for 37 pts on 58% PIP.
QUISENBERRY had a super game but got NO support at all. Kid had game high 36 pts. He took the final missed shot. A trey he was convinced he was fouled on. Having gone 10-10 from the stripe it potentially could have sent game into OT. I did not feel he was fouled.
In this day and age of coaches wearing sweats I find it refreshing seeing some of the old timers showing up in suits. I know I am old school. MCKillop looked like he was dressed for a men's fashion shoot. Always an impeccable look. Laughed last week when I saw Manhattan Coach Steve Masiello show up to play Pitino wearing his best (only) suit ONLY because he knew Pitino would be wearing one. Steve's sweats sometimes looks like pajamas.
MCKillop sure scouts foreign players well. He has players from Austria, New Zealand, England, Iceland and Denmark.
No team is unbeatable and that is certainly the case in the A10. Fordham fell to the Manhattan Jaspers (loved it) and today almost knocked of one of the hottest teams in the country.
Basketball is a fun game. No one was allowed to attend the game due to covid.

URI falls at home to GW for their second A10 loss. URI looks a little off their recent levels, or maybe GW is moving up, although they are 2-3 in the league and weren’t too sharp in the OOC.

George Mason outlasts Dayton 50-49. George Mason misses a one and one with 6 seconds left, Dayton runs the ball up court but misses a shot at the horn.

George Mason took down Dayton 50-49.
This was a very close came throughout. GM lead most of the way but Dayton had short held leads with largest being 3 pts.
The Mason held HOLMES II to only 3 shots and 6 points in his 33 mins. That and outscoring them by 15 pts from deep was the difference.
Their D held Dayton to 31% FGs and 22% TREYS.
Dayton played 8 and GM went 7 deep.
We will have our hands full with a tough GM team!
