It is looking more likely each day that both the New England A-10 schools will be making coaching changes at the end of this season. Conventional wisdom by nearly all was that McCall was gone. It now seems that David Cox at URI will very likely be joining him. Cox is in the fourth year of an initial five year contract and has not gotten an extension. His team is in late season free fall for the the second straight year. I would not think that merits a new contract.

If we don't take on any more water and say, win all but two of our regular season games + A10 finals. Do we get in? We'd likely have 7-9 Q1/2 wins with only one Q3 L and no Q4s, but the NET would probably be high 65-85...

Want to feel worse? Awful (8-13) GWU was tied with Davidson with minute left, lost by 5. Dayton squashed by SLU. Mason loses to 6-13 LaSalle. Shows how awful Bonnies have been.

Watched an exciting game with Richmond beating George Mason with less than a second to go Gilyard makes a 3 to win it. Noteworthy, Mason played without their star player Oduro. Plus, Schwartz fouled out with about 3 minutes to go. Richmond wins by 3.

Within the next few weeks, thebracketologists will start chiming in with info on some of the other mid-majors and the also-rans from the P-5 leagues and we’ll get a better handle on where our record in Q1 and Q2 games stands. 7 Q1/2 wins should put us in pretty good shape. I know certain leagues, the ACC for example, are having unusually weak years other than a couple of top teams - but maybe not the typical 5-7 teams that somehow get bids. It’s still unlikely we get in on an at-large but it’s also too soon to count it out completely. If we can start a run tonight and finish strong, maybe our prospects aren’t as bleak as everyone here seems to think. How teams end the year matters and the closing stretch starts now.

My opinion without any facts to back them up (so a true Bandwagon opinion . NCAA cares about two things for their tournament: - most eyes watching the game - so big schools, big alumni groups, and those with extended fan bases (like Notre Dame Football) is what they want - a couple of Cinderella teams especially for the first weekend - the little engine that could - but not too many , because they need to maximize the eyes watching. Just enough to drum up some interest nationally They do not care who the Cinderella teams are. They just want them to have a good story to tell (Loyola with the Sister). That is why an at large bid will not go to us, we have been to the tournament 3 times in the last 10 years - we are not as "Pretty" as we once were to the Committee. NIT - maybe a shot as an at large - viewership not as important there - NIT is more " TV content" at this point to fill the basketball airtime. So if want to go to the NCAAs, we better win the league (probably out of the realm of reality) or win the league tournament.

I suggest we hire Wallace Shawn, dress him up in a friar outfit and have him yell "indubitably" (sp?) on air non-stop until someone falls in love with him and we become the next darling!!
