08's use of the "C" word to describe Wagoneers who disagree with him is inappropriate, imho. Childish, even.
One can disagree with another's opinion, yet show RESPECT at the same time.

Perhaps he called people Cancers because he assumes everyone is born in late June or Early July.

FERPA is for educational records. Nothing to do with this. Gotta love the apologists who think they have a clue how real D1 universities act. Cute but depressing they think their opinions are relevant. For the record, I don’t agree with you. Just don’t like improper applications of FERPA. We’re not getting an explanation and it is what it is.

Why are people saying this was a firing?
The only reports are that the contract isn’t being renewed but that sounds more like TK wanted a massive raise and the school said no.
I don’t know any inside info but a friend said something that made me think this is more of TK quitting.

I don’t know any inside info but a friend said something that made me think this is more of TK quitting. I have been thinking the same. Kenney wanting and deserving a raise, and the BOT saying no. Though you would think if both sides wanted, an agreement could have been reached. We shall see where he lands. He always said he had a list for potential new coaches, so I am sure he had a list of potential jobs.

I have no doubt he had a list of potential other employers.

info from 2019 shows that Alnutt made $270,500 per year. Time for SBU to create an endowment to finance the AD and other key athletic department employees FBS ADs get paid more. They have a lot more on their plate. FCS ADs also tend to get paid more than non-football D1 schools. Bonas’ peers in the A10 (Davidson, LaSalle, St Joes, GW) all pay about $250k for their ADs. The pay rate previously given by Bonas would be around the average of what is given at MAAC schools. Big East ADs make about $450k a year and they are at the top of non-football D1. No doubt that it is below market for the level of play Bonnies are asked to compete but it isn’t out of line for D1 non football. Paying so little does limit the pool of people who would be interested in the position and it is to be expected that you’d only get people interested in using it as a stepping stone and wanting a A10 department and executive experience on their resume.

At 157k the AD was making 35% less than the A10 counterparts. That's a pretty deep discount in my world. 250k sounds like the right number, especially given his success in the position. Maybe, compensation was the issue and he wasn't "shown the door", but had served on a discounted basis long enough - so there was a logical point to move on.

why was the official twitter account of Bona Men's Basketball (BonniesMBB) suspended from Twitter? And could this decision have been related to that?

Why is everyone reaching for explanations. Explanations that get less and less plausible each day. Because University leadership has failed to offer any, much less an adequate, rational for the move. Contract will not be renewed. Not "an agreement could not be reached." Not " due to reorganization within the athletic department." Not "failed to live up to the expectations put forth." Not "mutual decision to part ways." Not "to spend more time with family." Not "to explore other opportunities." Just contract will not be renewed, two days before a holiday weekend. That statement opened up the current rampant speculation. It seems to have exposed the University to potential litigation. It created a poor image for the athletic dept and the University as a whole.

What litigation would that be. His contract expired at the end of the month. As of June 1st, he no longer has a contract...therefore, no longer employed by the University. All they did was release a statement saying it would not be renewed. Hard to litigate against facts. The APPEARANCE of how is was done MAY not be most desirable, but they stuck to facts.

Maybe, I don't understand a fan forum. Speculation is the order of the day here. I read speculation on who may be recruited. I read speculation on who may sign. I read speculation on who may transfer. I read speculation on who may start. I read speculation on out of conference opponents. I read speculation on won/lost record and potential for the season. So, I don't think it's a reach to speculate on why the chief executive of the sports department is leaving. This isn't a newspaper. Speculation is sort of central to the fun of it, or am I wrong?
