And now seems to be in a hurry to secure a search firm to hire a new AD. Why compound the mistake? Why not wait until the new President is in place (or at least known) so he/she can have input.

An Acting President fires the AD without active BoT involvement or notice? I do not believe that. And no one in the dept had advanced notice only one week before the end of and termination of his employment?

Barb Questa has been acting AD like what.. 5 times? Why not just make her AD?
I dont like search firms. The best athletic hiring of the last 15 years was done by AD Steve Watson without the help of a search committee. His associate AD was Barb Questa....

Zimmer needs to be replaced ASAP. He is brutal. I’ll leave it at that.

Do you realize how much of a disadvantage we are in without an experienced AD to navigate this new unchartered territory in college athletics. It is ridiculous how this went down.

Do you realize how much of a disadvantage we are in without an experienced AD to navigate this new unchartered territory in college athletics. It is ridiculous how this went down. Barb Questa has been interim AD several times and has served in the Bona athletic department for like 30 years. We have experience -- besides not to pile on the guy that lost his job but last season we watched the A10 tell their conference leader they needed to play 4 games in 8 days down the stretch, including one of which the Univ. president died. That's something an experienced AD should have stood up for us for, in my opinion

No knock on Questa but the handling of this was ridiculous. Scheduling was a challenge for all schools down the stretch. It worked out. We will be hanging two banners. You cant tell me having an interim AD going into one of the most anticipated basketball seasons in decades is ideal, add on the transfer portal, player likeness compensation, rebounding from lost revenue from Covid-19 and student athletes concerned about getting the vaccine. It simply does not make sense and the lack of transparency on the decision has many questioning the leadership of Zimmer, rightfully so.

^^^^ Yes to everything brownindian said above. Then to compound it by hiring a search firm to replace TK before a new president is named and in place makes no sense. If he did something worthy of being fired, then fire him and let us know why. If not, offer a one year extension so the new president can decide who he/she wants as AD. An interim president should just be guiding the ship on its course. Not renewing TK's contract at the last minute, without a full board decision, without anyone in the athletic department knowing, and without transparency makes Zimmer look like Joe Hazelwood

CollegeAD.com has an article re our AD opening entitled 'Approach with caution: sources detail a depressing opening at St. Bonaventure'
Kudos again to Zimmer and Co. for putting Bona's in the spotlight. I guess any publicity is good publicity, right? I'm not saying the right candidate isn't internal or connected to SBU but this glowing recommendation kind of limits the pool and makes the money spent on the search firm seem oh so well spent. But fear not, Board Chair Sheahan just sent a rather Al Haig-like email to set our minds at ease.

Reading Sheehan’s message, I think it contains an unwritten assurance the BOT was aware of, an on board with, dumping Kenney. As I wrote previously, we cannot expect the specific reason to be revealed, that’s just none of our business - and that’s true no matter how long or fervently you have rooted for the Bonnies. It’s a private employer-employee matter and should and will remain as such.

82.5-- I found the link to the article via CollegeAD's Twitter . You can find there or on their website. You need to subscribe to read it. I don't have access, sorry.
ceharv--I guess it is all point of view. You are willing to give the benefit of the doubt. I am not. Why does it need to be said that the whole BOT was behind the decision. A move of that significance should be. The rumors (just that, rumors, so I don't give them much stock) are that Sheahan, the Board's athletic liaison and one or two other University staff were the only ones that knew of the decision. I do know that very few, if any, athletic dept employees knew it was happening. The circumstances around the decision and the lack of any transparency make the situation smell bad.
