Coach is in Florida- I told my son who will be a sophomore to go say hi as he’s been to his camp. My son plays for a top 10 Florida high school with Kevin Knox brother, he’s 6’1” with potential but just 15. And yes I checked he can say hi because he already knows coach.

Nicholson used the “other left hand”. Some call it the right hand.

Bunch of 2024 offers on twitter recently: Damarius Owens, Tyler Betsey and Keyshaun Tillery to name a few. Seems to be a New York focused offering period.

This is something Bonnies have needed to do for years. Showing strength of a program that can compete with other power programs makes us a player for high level talent and not a program that settles for just"projects". Yann is a great example. Seems to me the NIT run is paying dividends.

Bonnies 20 you are lost. The three games each averaged between 500K and 700k. And you don't think recruits look at a sold out student section at MSG. Wow!

I will give you that the Bona fan support is a good selling point. That being said can we quit acring like the NIT is still significant? The team who beat SBU and won the tournament fired their coach AFTER winning in the first round. MAdison Square Garden has kicked the tournament to the curb. It will never be there again. IT was a nice consolation prize for us after one of the most disappointing seasons in Bonaventrue history. A long run in the NIT is not relevant in 2022.

Ask Moses Flowers if he was impressed by the NIT calibre of basketball and the Bonnies traveling army. Every time you get your school's name in print it is important and free advertising. Look at what happened in Charleston. The townspeople never heard of Bonaventure prior to the Tournament. The outcome was surreal. The following Monday the local merchants all knew the name and were pleading for us to make a return visit. It is ALL important when you have 700,000 viewing a game. Never say never. The NIT has provided great basketball history and may someday return. To those in power at MSG I say thank you for a great venue. A run beating Colorado, Oklahoma, and Virginia was and is relevant.

Clearly the name NIT no longer has the significance it did, even in ‘77. However three road wins in a row over P6 teams, including at Virginia,, one of the big names in the ACC, gathers the attention of anyone who cares about college hoops, and prospective D1 recruits are obviously in that group. So I agree last year’s NIT run can have an impact on recruiting for several years. Maybe it’s not the decision-making factor but IMO it may open some doors for a few years, particularly if we can follow it up with some attention-getting wins, for example beating Notre Dame in an early season tournament sure to receive significant media attention in the NYC area, still a college hoops hotbed.

Fully agree ceharv. There is a big difference between the NIT in if itself and the exposure it brought. The prestige of winning the NIT or games in it has been irrelevant for years in terms of it giving St. Bonaventure basketball increased national credibility. But the draw of MSG and increased exposure (only game on TV) and fan turnout in the NYC market has been impactful. Admittedly, the NIT being exiled from MSG will reduce the potential impacts moving forward
