Look this guy has flaws a mile wide and mile deep. He is a sociology professor (alarm bell one), who has made a career of appealing to criminal felons and he has stated that he deeply agrees with the idea of justice equity, diversity and inclusion. What does that word salad mean (second alarm bell)? Clearly the mission statement of the University of Scranton embraces and supports a group which admitted to attempting an insurrection in the US starting in May of 2020. An insurrection that caused billions of dollars in damages in many American cities, cities like LA, Chicago, NYC, DC, Minneapolis, Kenosha, Buffalo, Rochester, etc, etc. Dozens of citizens were murdered, small businesses destroyed. over 100 Catholic Churches and shrines were attacked and several were destroyed. So according to his justice equity program looting and destroying stores, Catholic Churches and shrines is A OK! That is totally at odds with Franciscan theology...totally. Apparently he is just fine with concepts like no bail for street crime, drug dealing, car theft, looting, simple assault, etc., and parole reform in which violent felons released on bail, can not be violated by parole officers and sent back to prison for not fulfilling your parole SOP's. This is justice equity. Our new President apparently approved of this according to the mission statement. Did not anyone on the search committee ask him about this mission statement...really WTH? Totally unacceptable in every way. Time to continue the search. You expect anything different from this clown Skeller6? He wouldn't recognize St. Francis if he was locked in a room with him for two hours. And when he emerged he would post here calling St. Francis a Commie. Apparently he thinks he knows better than trustees, administrators and student leaders who approved new president strongly.

I know this was directed at someone else, but doesn’t it get tiring calling anyone who has differing opinions a racist? Or does it rile you up that someone on the ‘right’ takes that insult with a grain of salt. Guess you should stop crying wolf lol

You always hate to hit these discussions, but can’t say he is racist because You do not know him. Hey, maybe he is the grand wizard, but the word racist has lost its meaning. Doesn’t seem like anything he said was racist, and there was at least some factual basis for his opinion, whether it is similar to yours or not. If you don’t like the choice, then don’t give money until you understand what he stands for. We all make choices.

Maybe the deciding powers were concerned less about virtuous compass readings and instead valued the enthusiasm displayed for searching for government monies, and perhaps sensed enthusiasm for growth. Time will tell.

Time will tell. Searching for government money is not usually a good thing. Too many strings. But I hope he is just as good at finding private money.

There is nothing wrong with equity, diversity and inclusion, they are long past due. But the terms have become buzz words for a political movement, one that uses it to effect change that is not always deserved, and one that has already eliminated or limited several of our freedoms. Colorblind was always needed and not yet achieved, but in order to force thought you have to eliminate free thought and freedom. Utopia does not exist. Ask anyone from a country that forces you to think or feel a certain way. Time and education heal division, but not when you seek to control or alienate. The same people that claim comments are hateful, have no problem spewing hate themselves as long as they can wrap themselves in their own self virtue. Try to respect all thoughts, if not respect, tolerate, even if you disagree. Over time, their opinions or those of their kids will change. But in the end, it should be their choice.
