I agree with Chuck that Jalen was the least likely to return.
He was our only player who's resume was greatly improved. First Team A10 along with his stats should make a pro contract aboard viable.
OSUN and KYLE would benefit the most from exercising their option to make their resume more attractive to playing abroad. Kyle's drop from First Team A10, in soph and Jr years, to third team as a senior was a big hit to his marketability aboard. His drop in scoring and TREY % at 28% hurts him. The ankle impacted his season. I believe he could repair that resume IF he returned.

It’s been 10 days since the season ended and no announcements. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. A lot riding on their return/departure.

We are all eager to hear the decisions of KYLE, OSUN, JAREN & DOM. They may have already made Coach Schmidt aware of their decision. It does require careful thought with their parents. If NILs are involved that requires some time as well.
Meanwhile I am sure the staff is working with what they know to fill out the roster. As my dear mother would say, watching the kettle to boil always seems longer.

Osun will retain eligibility and test NBA draft stock. There’s a chance he returns.

Osun will retain eligibility and test NBA draft stock. There’s a chance he returns. Basically I take this to be he’s returning. I guess there is always a chance he retains eligibility and goes elsewhere, but nothing from the statement indicates that. Edit: according to unfurled on twitter, transfer portal closes before this deadline so it sounds like test NBA waters and return to Bonas for one more.

I would guess that if odds were created, the best odds would be he returns to Bonas. Next best that he transfers, and finally that he stays in the draft.

Are schools allowed more than 13 scholarship players due to Covid? So does the staff recruit with the assumption of one more year of OSUN? If so, would it be better for the staff to recruit for a 5 with a four year high school/prep player, a multi year one time transfer, or a transfer who will have to sit out a year but will be able to practise with the team for a year?

Sip, all good questions. Between de commits high school/prep guys and all the centers and/or power forwards in the portal, I'm hoping that our ship comes in. I know that's not much to go on. But like it or not it's been our MO, Jaylen Adams and Osun Osuniyi are exhibits A and B. There is probably a little bit of luck in there and I know the faithful are doing their part overnight when they put their heads down on the pillow. I know that puts a lot of pressure on the staff and they reflect our program, they work and work and work.

I hope the other seniors make their announcements this week. That way, we have some clarity/plan for the future.
Osun made a smart choice. There’s no harm in going through the workout process and getting feedback. Ultimately, I think he returns to Bona.

It is great news all around and I wish Osun all the best as he goes through the process.
IMO it’s the best case scenario! he gets a look, and if the scouts fall in love with him, we have another Bonnie in the league. If they say not yet, he comes back and dominates the paint at the RC for another year. Either way Osun is the man

Either way Osun is the man I find it hard to believe they have not done an NBA evaluation yet, they come out with these reports that assess your likelihood of being drafted all the time, and the they are not hard to get. I would assume OO would not be. This dangling stuff hurts the team from bringing in new players and has already cost us one big. While OO is the one guy I preferred to have back because he can be the defensive backbone of a new D, he personally needs to improve his offensive game and his strength. He was exposed against Xavier, and given he is 22 or 23, he is probably not growing anymore, but needs to fill out before being strong enough to deal with strong NBA players and long schedules. I think it is a win win for him coming back, so I hope that decision is made now and the staff can move on recruiting.

A player going through the evaluation process will always be a good thing for their college team. the reports you are talking about come from nerds on the internet by the way and are meaningless. I personally think his measurables will surprise and interest NBA teams, but I do hope he's back home at Bonas. Either way, I am happy for him
