Quante Berry, Providence PG, to Temple. I haven't seen any interest list for Watts, the Seton Hall PG, hope springs eternal.

According to Verbal Commits, 1670 transfers are in the portal so far. There were 1761 total transfers in 2022. None of our transfers has found a home yet. The portal closes May 11. As everyone knows, first-time transfers who enter the portal from March 13 to May 11 are immediately eligible. First-time transfers who enter after May 11 will have to apply for a waiver to gain immediate eligibility (usually granted for coaching changes, etc.). Grad students are exempt. verbalcommits.com/transfers/2023/D1

So, the players on the roster who do not transfer elsewhere can return to bona ...if Schmidt wants them back?

Not surprising to see a slight downturn in the number of transfers in the second year. I think that trend will continue for a while after kids start seeing and hearing that life elsewhere is not always as wonderful as expected. We will eventually reach an average number well below the initial wave seen in the first years. But even if the total numbers decrease, it will never again be back to where you can count on someone staying and developing for 5he traditional four years, which was always part of the fun of college hoops. LaDarian G. being a good example of that kind of development.

Good article. If Schmidt is going more drills and less playbook that would be a big change in his coaching style. I think this puts some of the better coached schools at a disadvantage. They don’t get to develop players over a few years. Teams with superior talent will have an even bigger advantage because of the will now mentality the NIL brings.

The lowering also occurs I believe because the free Covid year is gone. It was one thing when you came in and a guy stays for his 6th year. We are getting back to what the norm will be.
