Chuck...As usual an accurate and insightful look at the disappointing play of DARYL this season which goes back to last season.
Your confusion on some of Coach Schmidts' comments is shared by many. I attribute them to avoiding further debilitating DARYL's confidence. Coach saying his D was "OK" is no accolade in spite of DR. Gs assessment.
Glad you point out that MOSES has played 140 mins less than DARYL. That disparity in PT projects to MOSES averaging 13 ppg compared to DARYL's 7.7 ppg, if allowed to play the same # of mins.
DARYL plays hard on defense and I do not attribute his poor play to effort or lack of focus. And I'm not critical of DARYL's D on guarding MEDOR. I have seen no one stay in front of this super fast kid. His critical pull up J in final mins was benefited by a slight push off on Daryl who was on him tight. The kid in recent games was averaging 20 ppg and had 16 against us.
In spite of DARYl"s lack of contributions, due to very poor shooting, there are two aspects of his game that are unmatched. His ability to draw charges on picks he sets and his ability to draw fouls on his TREYS. I expect and hope they will prove pivotal in games going forward.
Keep in mind that in making comparisons, the 140 min differential in PT is partially due to MOSES playing 1 less game.

Stats can be very misleading, but the +/- Stat is often the most telling (especially in losses and close wins) ... Great INFO Chuck !

Nothing misleading about DB3’s shooting stats. He’s in a deeper slump than Holmes ever was. Jaren found ways to help us win — score, defend, rebound, even play a solid PG when Lofton was out.
We have players who deserve more time… Evans, Moses and Luc.
Pride or Moses can slide over to the #2 spot. Evans and and Assa should be able to play together at the 3 and 4 or find another way to give Evans PT.
If we see another dud game from Darryl with 30+ minutes in a loss I’m gonna have my I Luv Schmidt tattoo removed!!

I’m glad Schmidt never gave up on Daryl Banks. Schmidt talked about his great attitude on the post game Rhode Island interview.

I’m happy for Daryl. I knew he didn’t forget how to play. Tonight was a big step in the right direction. 14 points 7 assists. If he adapts to to the 6th man role it will give the Bonnies a huge advantage/boost.

With Daryl it’s never been about effort or ability. It’s finding consistency. We’ve seen him go for 30+ a few times last year and he lit up KY two years ago. He needs to give production Schmidt can count on each game — but he did this earlier in the season with 5 threes in one game.
Happy for him.

Flowers starts and shoots way worse than normal. What can possibly be the difference between starting or coming off the bench? If this is the case I think they should start 3 walk ons and let darryl, Moses, and Barry come in and drop dimes. I don't get it.

BANKS had a few really sweet assists last night besides his improved shooting.

Moses has a tendency to hunt shots. He is best when he allows the game flow to come his way. When Moses moves crisply off the ball shots in rhythm occur.

Watching MOSES in pregame, he was unconscious beyond the arc, then the game starts, different story.

Yesterday was the last straw for me. I think Banks is a lost cause. We're 18 games into the season and he's had 2 good games. He went 0/9 last night and none of his shots were close. He should be used sparingly from now on.

That might be the best post of the year. This team needs DB3 to play at that level and we all know he can. Count me in the "idiot" class for feeling the same frustration with Daryl and Thanks Daryl for continuing to work and grind your way thru your slump. 1 game does not a trend make - but the example set does - Keep grinding and good things will happen.

I'll just quote someone who knows a hell of a lot more about basketball than anyone on this board "Just keep chopping wood".
