Daryl’s interesting stats — 5 games shooting 40% or above from the field. 4 of these games have been at the Reilly Center. —11 games shooting 30% or less from the field. 7 of these games have occurred when the games were NOT played in the Reilly Center. — Shooting 29.1% from the field as a starter. Shooting 44.1% as a reserve. — Shooting 40.2% during Bona wins. Shooting 13.6% during losses. Despite Daryl's struggles with his shot, he always gives maximum effort on defense. Last night Daryl was 2nd with 5 assists, while having just 1 turnover. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/daryl-banks-iii-1/gamelog/2024www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/daryl-banks-iii-1/splits/2024

Banks and Essa both worked out past Summer with Tyler Relph. Did this do anything to their shot?

Banks and Essa both worked out past Summer with Tyler Relph. Did this do anything to their shot? I think Relph is the ball handling guru...Lethal Shooter [Chris Mathews] is the shooting guru.

In his 7 conference games DARYL has hit 13 of his 31 TREYS for 42%.

I was impressed with his defense tonight. He was stuck to Shulga like glue in the 2nd half

Hard to blame one guy for our struggles, but Banks is a big reason why we have been so inconsistent. This is a guy that was picked to be all A10 first team. A guy I thought could be counted on to score 15-20 points regularly. He’s had a nightmare season. Just dreadful. I don’t think anybody could’ve predicted this kind of drop off.

Not sure Banks was ever first-team quality despite being picked there this offseason.
He shot 36% from the floor and just 34% from three last year. His regression is expected given the players we've added. Banks scored the way he did last year because he was shooting 12+ times a game.
I do like him and think he's a solid player, but he just hasn't hit his stride in his new role.

Banks is one of many examples of players who have gotten worse this season.
Moses was tearing it up as a 6th man. Now he makes no impact. He and Banks are the team captains. It’s hard to be a leader when your poor play is hurting the team.
Pride struggles to find his role and consistency, especially on the road. Why isn’t he the focal point of the offense along with Mika — same way Lofton and Stockard were in their only season together.
Assa has one or two lights-out games each month. Then disappears. He was much more consistent last season. If he hits a couple shots early in the game his confidence soars and our team play is elevated.
Mika was among the top PGs in the nation during the OOC. He had a spat with Schmidt, got benched and hasn’t been the same player.
Chad has better stats than last year but he doesn’t make other players better on offense. Coach is blind to this fact.
I hate to see Banks get too much blame. He didn’t ask to be elected preseason all A10. That is just ignorance of other A10 coaches.

Banks has struggled for sure this season - but how can you blame him and expect to get in any rhythm when the offense continues to be slow, lethargic, motion with ZERO purpose, stagnant, meaningless, sluggish - how many other terrible adjectives to you want? THE problem is the team is loaded with guards and wings that shoot - are best when they are playing downhill with urgency - and they don't shoot! Mika & Assa should shoot a minimum 8 3s per game each - Chuck, Daryl, Moses should combine for another 16-20 per game. Hell - I don't even care of Luc puts some shots up when open - SHOOT the ball! Game in and game out you see $hit action, meaningless action and get a terrible shot - OR turn the ball over. Run AN offense - at this point, I don't really care what offense - just get the ball up. We have guys who can shoot and make shots. Mika is probably one of the best finishers we've had at the guard spot in a while - get to the rim! Really inexcusable at this point. Really don't want to hear "the team is still learning the system and learning how to play together...." until next November (becuase you know we'll here it on or around Nov. 4....). It's almost March and there has been zero needle movement. Go Bonas.
