One of the greatest comebacks in St. Bonaventure history was against Toledo in Toledo during Bob Lanier’s sophomore year…. When Bonas went undefeated in the regular season. The Toledo comeback was notable not for the huge deficit overcome but for the fact that the Bonnies ( Brown Indians then) were down six points with 45 seconds remaining. Remember there was no three-point basket back then. The Toledo team had Steve mix and Marlon Briscoe playing for them. I remember Don McLean’s call of the game. Priceless!

And of course there was Delmar Harrod’s heave under the Niagara basket with a seconx or two on the clock… and Bonas down by one… that went in the hoop. No three point badkets then either. The Bonnies won by one. A few years ago I saw Delmar at a Bonnie game and I yelled” Nice shot at Niagara!” And he responded “I knew it was in all the way!”

I made long car ride from campus for that game even though I had been diagnosed with non-infectious Mono the week before...then had to sleep on a motel room floor (I went with 3rd Rob upperclassmen)...mid-December, as I recall....
