Outscored from the free throw line - 23-5. Tough to overcome.

This one was a game of great heart but this was tough because it was there for the taking! I know people get mad if we criticize the coach and players but I really think coach and Banks share a lot of blame. Coach not playing Barry enough in the 1/2 half and Banks trying to be the hero. Can’t blame a loss on one play, but the little mistakes can add up in a game like this and cost you.

They never give up. As color guy said several times "They answer every time."
Dayton outscored us by 21 pts from the stripe! 30% of their scoring was from the line.
We took 8 FTs to their 29 FTs.
We made 3 more baskets and 7 more treys.
After early 4 TOs we turned it over only 3 times the rest of the game. BENNETT was allowed to play very physical defense.
Things to build on.

With our 2 bigs in foul trouble this would have been the perfect night to play Barry and Assa together. But no. And when they were paired together late in the game 6"6' Assa defended Holmes instead of 6"9' Barry, the best defender on the team. Schmidt's handling of Barry's minutes this year has been inexplicable to be kind.

Since when can you throw stuff on the court late in a game and not get a technical

After further review, Bonnies were majorly hosed. 23/29 ft for UD, 5/8 ft for Bona. Flyers 11 PF, Bonnies double that with 22.
Come on now...

Even if you leave out Holmes they still got more FTs than us, 12-8.

I agree but mistakes at crucial times by a single player when the game is close is worth pointing out. We have a veteran team, so no excuses.

We fell behind for good when Dayton went with two bigs and Schmidt had Assa guarding their big stiff backup center who got 6 straight points. And then near end of game he had Assa, not Barry, on Holmes who scored 5 pts in 45 seconds.

Bonnies are going to have to bounce back to figuring out how to do a better job at stopping bigs with Umass they have Cohen and Cross!
Great effort though! Played until the end and made some big shots! Ran into an NBA player tonight!

Good games guys!! Proud of you after a slow start! Slow start AGAIN! Ultra baffling why Luc is still our starting PG. What the heck did Mika do — besides yell at our head coach — to not deserve to start but still play 35 minutes? Stupidest discipline move ever. Are we not the worst team of all time in the first 8 minutes of almost every game — yet our PG sits and watches against the #21 team in the USA. Reeks of head coach’s overblown ego and stubbornness. Or is he going to let this 1964 middle school punishment linger for another month? Then Schmidt pulls Mika after a turnover and quick/bad deep shot in the first half … when everyone else is struggling too … yet Mika finishes with 17 points and just two TOs. Just let the kid play and get over yourself before the season is trash. Maybe our PG was yelling at coaches to change the offense because they cannot figure out how this team can score some points in the first “quarter” of the game. Yes a great, gutty effort but too many baffling coaching moves the last several weeks for me to have much hope this season. This was the FAU game in repeat fashion… we let another Q1 win slip through our hands. Tired of moral victories. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Holmes is good but I thought we did not make him work hard enough on offensive end. I would have liked to see Evans guarding him part of the game. He is too quick for our centers. Too many mistakes down the stretch. This was a night where we should have won with Dayton not hitting 3’s. I thought we guarded well except for Holmes.
