It seems the team lives or dies by the three, if nobody gets hot from outside the team loses their mojo. Box score says 10 turnovers but it seemed like more than that. At times I thought they might be able to do something in the tourney but that doesn't seem likely.

Seniors and super seniors are just floating out there with no urgency. Don’t they realize their careers are about to be over?
You can blame Schmidt if ya want but a lot of that is on them. Jogging up the court, hanging around the perimeter, getting beat back in transition. It’s like they are content just having fun with their friends.

We’ve had guys in the past under Schmidt, plays or no plays for them, that would flat out refuse to float for 25 minutes and take 3 or 4 shots.
You think he was making innovative plays to get Marcus Posley open? Not really, Marcus would grab the reins and lay it all on the line

Not sure it always happens but in first half ball went into Chad,he gets double teamed, Chad looks to pass but other 4 players all spread out at 3 point line, but arched around from mid court to opposite corner. Chad had zero option to pass to. I said why aren't the other 4 players arched around but to the side near to Chad? Chad has a limited view when he is doubled. Last night he was passing the ball out much better than in the past, but the other 4 players can't pass the ball around fast enough to get an open shot. The opponent is always able to recover before the ball gets swung around.
Rinse and repeat … you cannot play through a big man who cannot read the defense and pass without hesitation. Chad is not going to score 30 or 35 points. Opponents will give him 16 to 22 points and force him into a few turnovers while keeping our shooters in the dark… two of whom shoot better than 40% from deep.
Those great 3 point shooters can't get an open look no matter what the coach is drawing up. No one can take a deeper three than at the line.

The number of shots our 1,000 point scorers are getting is baffling.
Last night everyone was driving to the hoop and getting stopped and then not able to pass out to anyone who was open. If anyone was open???

The most experienced team in the NCAA does not seem to have any understanding of how to create an effective offense. That's coaching, my friend, unless that's what you mean by "team." Unless you want to say we have the dumbest players in NCAA. Seems unlikely since several played for Schmidt last year and two new recruits are 5-year starters. 3 out of every 4 games in conference Schmidt appears out-prepared and also makes few adjustments--if you watch on TV (radio is no help) you see almost no cuts, few plays beyond passing into Chad, just passing around the perimeter or someone suddenly trying a forced drive to the bucket. Game after game. I almost fainted when someone made a bounce pass inside for an easy Noel bucket last night. The one and only such play all game. And if you think some players are dogging it--why hasn't Schmidt benched anyone except for Mika, which cost us at least one game, maybe two? Schmidt's explanation is always "our players did not execute" or "we missed too many shots." Never a question about what they are supposed to execute or why they are put in position of taking tough shots, often with shot violation approaching.

You can blame Schmidt if ya want but a lot of that is on them. No it's not - not if it's still happening on Feb 21st and after 26 games. You can't allow that to continue to happen as a coach, motivator, manager.

Seth Greenberg quote makes one think as a fan: "So, when you're not as focused, maybe when you go on the road… maybe you're hearing too much good about yourself … you're more vulnerable. And when you're more vulnerable and other team plays well, they take advantage of it and you lose."

How open does one have to be to shoot a three point shot? Yes this is a real question. Watching games this year it looks to me that opposing teams have no problem putting up shots when there may be a defender near by. Our shooters seem to hesitate to take shots, where opponents seem to be willing to shoot in similar defended positions.

BINGO We have ZERO players on this team that can create their own shot. We have no true POWER FORWARD. This team has holes. Lack of consistent shooting can be made up with physical play. Our guards are not physical. We have zero physicality outside of the center position.
