From what little I have seen of the Explorers, they don’t look to have the kind of big man that typically causes us trouble (6’10” Jocius averages 7.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg on 56% shooting BUT UNDER 50% on free throws and no league games with over 20 points), and in fact IMO their front line as a whole doesn’t impress statistically. But what they do have is one of the better backcourts in the league and a coach who has them playing hard and refusing to quit, plus they’re at home Wednesday night, where they’re coming off a W over UMass that broke a 5 game losing streak.

Bonnies have won only once at LaSalle in the last decade. Let’s hope we are above and beyond losing to bad teams in Philly.
Explorers are 3-10 in A10 with wins over UMass, and at Fordham and at GW. Their win Saturday over UMass broke a 5-game losing streak.

This goes under the category "a good problem to have." A week ago many here were lamenting lack of offense from Assa and call for more playing time for Barry, maybe even start him--if we are not getting much O from Assa why not get the better D from Barry (which can sometimes lead to O). Besides, it would be nice to see what Barry could do with more time. Now Assa has suddenly heated up, albeit just for two games, but his new proficiency on scoring off the dribble suggests he may keep it going. But as we saw last game, this means fewer minutes for Barry, particularly when we trail and need points.
However, there's a new issue: Moses disappearing on offense. Didn't even take a single shot last game. Schmidt loves to play Banks so he simply takes Moses minutes. However, Banks is also used to spell Mika and Pride. Finally, Moses has not thrived as a starter so he might do much better going back to bench role. But another idea is: start Barry with Assa for a change, keep Banks as a reserve where he may be coming around, and put Flowers back in bench role where he has played better. Would love to see how the offense/defense combo of Assa and Barry together would work and might help us on glass where we nearly got killed last game and often seem to be at a size disadvantage....

The Explorers, considering the level of their play, have been a thorn in our side.
Over the past 9 games we have a 5-4 record against them. At the RC we are 3-2 and at Gola Arena we are 2-2.
Last season we lost to them in the RC 76-70 and at their place we beat them in OT 80-76.
Having gone to a couple of games at Gola Arena I've seen them give us fits.
As mentioned, their back court of BRANTLEY & BRICKUS are a challenge to curtail. They create better than any tandem in the conference as well as put up 16ppg & 14ppg respectively. They are so quick, athletic & strong to the rim. They are #3 in A/TO ratio and #4 in aassists.
They take a lot of TREYS with BRICKUS converting on 43% and MARRERO 41%. They are #4 making 8.7 TREYS a game. This is how they can beat us.
With the talent they have and Dumphy as coach I'm surprised by their 11-11 record & 2-7 conference.
Their D is not a strength. And their rebound margin is -1.5. However they are strong on the offensive glass.

I haven’t seen LaSalle play in probably a month, but the lasting impression that I have is that their guard tandem is as good as any in the league. Both those guys, Brantley and Brickus can really play! That scares me. I thought similarly of St. Joe’s and we took care of business in that one (but in the RC). I think Joe’s has more guys to help their guards than LaSalle does! I think we’ll get the win but you never know with this schizophrenic team! LFG!!!

We have yet to build any consistency during conference play. Win 1, lose 2, win 2, lose 1. That’s been the pattern. I’m hoping we can get on a roll to end the season. I’m worried about this week. 2 very tricky road games. Hopefully our guys rise to the occasion.

Schmidt is 1-7 vs. Francis Dunphy in his career.
Obviously virtually all of those victories occurred when he was at Temple with top-shelf talent, but he’s still one of the better coaches in the A10.
Hoping for better luck at Gola tomorrow. Really need a W going into a tough road game at UMass who just beat VCU by 22.

Not worried one iota about Schmidt’s record vs Dunphy. We aren’t playing conference leader Temple of the mid 2000s where nearly all of those losses occurred. Its LaSalle, Kenpom ranked 244
I am worried about my blood pressure listening to the LaSalle announcers on ESPN+ though. They are THE WORST

When it's ESPN+ and an away game I turn the sound off and pretend that I'm in the arena. I have the active box score on my computer to check on individual stats, fouls, etc. Highly recommend.

I might try to sync Bonnies Radio Network up with the TV feed. I dont know if its possible though, if the TV is behind the radio it might not be. Otherwise I might be with you, watching with the sound OFF. LaSalle's announcers are the "POW!" guys whenever they make a 3. just brutal to listen to

Cool, good to know. I will try it tonight. Road games I do believe are broadcast from the studio. Otherwise those arenas are realllllllly quiet
