Sir, you have taken a lot of crap from us on the Bandwagon this year. me included. On behalf of the Bandwagon, we apologize. All is forgiven. Will you please return the sentiment and forgive us? YOU ARE THE MAN. And we will be talking about your performance against Loyola for decades. Seriously, for decades.
Sincerely, the Bonnies Bandwagon (per ceharv although without authorization to speak on behalf of anyone here)

Another good game from DB. Shot so-so, but hit clutch shots, was superb at the line, and was good on the glass. All over the court. I thought Schmidt’s postgame comments were spot on, he said it was not pretty, but they are blue collar and never give up. We had a period of 4-5 games midway through the season where the guys, who are all supposed to be good shooters, lit it up from three. Tonight we were back in the 20’s in 3 shooting. Not good. Stats show a rebounding difference of only 2, but LUC was plus 8 on the offensive glass. We need three things on Saturday to move on, we need to shoot better, rebound the defensive glass better, and cut down the turnovers (16 tonight). Overall, a really gritty performance tonight and a good win. After a 2OT game the guys will be happy to take tomorrow off. Looking forward to Saturday.

I've liked him no matter what. He struggled big time this year to the point I felt bad for him. I'm glad he has bounced back. He plays hard.

Great post. There are others who have had nasty comments regarding Daryl, including tonight, who should be expressing the same sentiments. Daryl always gives you what he has & is not afraid to take the big shot. He’s a winner in my opinion.
Go Bonas!

DB3 has earned his Bona stripes. Play hard, and if the final result were to fall short, be satisfied that you put it all out there.
I'll add this -- DB3 is FEARLESS. He is willing to take the big shot that others shy away from.

He went from a 1st team a-10 to coming off the bench and he didn't change. Sometimes players become negative when something like that happens. All season, everyone knows he was a better shooter than what we saw the first half of the season but he was still playing. He was playing b/c he gives 100%. Schmidt even said after the game that he believes in him and trust him. That's why a lot of players don't get time at st Bonaventure- Schmidt can't trust them.
Banks pass behind the head to Noel was really special. 12-12 from the line I believe is a good reason for a player to be on the court. Clutch threes when they needed them. Good for Banks.
Best thing about the tourney so far Bona's has yet to shoot well- so they are really do to shoot a decent percentage. This team is probably the most talented group of inconsistent players I have ever witnessed. You hear the announcers say the 5 players on the court have scored over 7000 some points in college but yet they have a first half with under 25 points -numerous times this season. It's unreal. Time to get HOT!!!

I apologize to Daryl, as well. His track record speaks for itself. He might be streaky, but he’s a damn good college basketball player. He’s done it on the biggest of stages. Credit to him for staying confident and never shying away from the moment.

Very strange with all the apologies in this thread. Most rational people (?) on the BW were posting the absolute truth about this team and DB all season. I didn’t follow any in-game noise yesterday that some could be alluding to. Coach’s post hit it right on the head. To take it further, this group is disappointing, underachieving, sometimes lazy and confused, unpredictable, gut-wrenching … yet dangerous, captivating and ultra-competitive at times.
DB is the leader of this maddening bunch and his play is all off the descriptors above — except he undeniably has one of the biggest set of brass cojones in Bona basketball history. BIG PLAY BANKS.
His MO dates back to the St Peter’s days. We all roll our eyes at every ESPN+, USA and CBSSN color man’s chronicling of DB’s finest hours vs KY, etc., two seasons ago… him being voted first team all-A10 this preseason … his 30-point outbursts a season ago … and the absolute disappearance of his jumper for weeks at a time.
It all helps paint the picture of our roller-coaster relationship with a 170-pound guy who can score zero and look so pedestrian and out of sorts one game or one half on both ends of the court … and be the reincarnation of Marcus Posley/Glenn Hagen/JR Bremer three nights or three minutes later.
He’s Captain Clutch of a group which struggles to score a single point for long stretches of many games, yet can light up scoreboards when games and seasons are in the balance. Maybe not apologize for it but do a better job of embracing it ‘cause DB will likely once again slumber through most of Saturday’s semifinal.
Let’s hope his teammates can keep it all within reach for another game or two until Big Play Banks has another chance to do his thing.

I was thinking of a team that just knows how to play and has a bball IQ the past 10 years. I thought Posley, Stockard, dion wright, Nicholson and I might throw Charles Pride in. How does he get so many offensive boards???-B/c he's a smart basketball player.

This is Daryl's time. He was born for this ... Lets be honest - he certainly didn't play a perfect game, but who does ? He kept grinding and fighting to the very end. His passion seemed to lift his teammates to another level down the stretch. 12-12 from the line with the season on the line was legendary. Kudos to NOEL for playing with that same intensity all game as well - he has become a key component to this team's success.
On a side note - I don't know what is going on with Chad - but we were clearly a better team with Noel on the floor against both Loyola and LaSalle. He just looked a step slow on Offense and Defense all night. That being said, we are going to need CHAD to bring his A game from now on - no question. Something tells me the day off will serve him well, and we will see the real CHAD on Saturday (and Sunday).
GO BONAS - What a win !

His passion seemed to lift his teammates to another level down the stretch. 12-12 from the line with the season on the line was legendary. 24 Years ago it was David Messiah Capers draining three at the stripe to send us to a second overtime vs Kentucky in NCAA's. DBIII was money at the stripe yesterday with us down 2 w/12 seconds remaining. Nothing but Net three times. Kool Kat!!

Difference is that Capers was not a great FT shooter (65% for his career) and Tubby Smith called a timeout after his first and second makes to ice him. With the CBS/Turner (?) long commercial breaks it was almost 10 minutes for DMC to sink three freebies. Most surreal moment of my Bona fandom. Excruciating and exhilarating.
We all knew full well that DB would sink any and all free throws in the clutch. It’s what he does best.

Remembering seeing Capers in Brooklyn for championship game vs. ST Louis....when his daughter sang National Anthem....I held up 3 fingers from the stands...he gave me a great smile and a thumbs up from the court.
