Up next is Duquesne.
The Dukes have the 43rd best defense in the country in terms of points allowed, and are second in the A10 to Dayton in that metric. Both games against them this year have not been pretty. We shot 27% against them down in PGH back in January, and barely shot 40% against them at home in Feb.
Probably will be a rock fight.

Hard to imagine a defense more physical than Loyola's D.

Stats out the window now, the Bonnies are on a mission and have gone too far to turn back now. The Bonnies are the Rocky Balboa of the tournament, when you think they are down and done, they rise and fight back even harder. How many times have we heard coaches say it is extremely difficult to beat a team three times in one season. Never say never with the Bonnies. Go Bona's beat the Dukes

Hard to imagine a defense more physical than Loyola's D. I was impressed with their defense, but that extended defense also allowed Bona a lot of trips to the line. In fact, Bona's 31 trips to the line was the most attempts they've had ALL season. Those 27 points from the FT line helped us stay in the game when our offense was not clicking. In our regular season game with them, we went to the line 29 times, which was 3rd most attempts for the season (Davidson game was 2nd at 30 attempts).

I am not going to do the math, but I suspect if I did it would show that the Dukes’ elevated defensive stats this season are due to our poor shooting in both our games and that without those two games, the Dukes’ defensive stats are pretty pedestrian. Now, was our poor shooting the result of their good defense or just off games by our normally solid shooters? Like many coaches, Dambrot says the right things about emphasizing D. He has for years, but his teams haven’t had the production to back it up. I am concerned that if we start off missing shots, that would give them confidence and belief in their D. I hope that if we start out hitting our shots early, particularly threes, we could shred them. I still think we are considerably better at every position, but then again I am 0-2 with that belief this year. For certain, Clark and Grant are a very solid pair of guards, and Rozier makes for three solid guards. But I think their front line players are vulnerable, so maybe this will be the time for Chad to impress his family and friends in Brooklyn with a big game.

In the two tourney wins Bonas has scored 75 pts, if they can do that again they will win by 12. GO BONNIES!!

I caught the end of the Dukes win last night. Toward the end of the game a Duke made a great block on a HOLMES shot in the paint. He grimaced in pain with an injured shoulder. Left the game and did not return. Wonder if he will play tomorrow? Who was that injured player who was in a lot of pain?

Dambrot thought the injured big man would be limited but the Dukes are 3 deep at that position. Th third guy who came in did a great job on Holmes because he is more agile.

Have to wonder how far Noel will be able to go on bad ankle or ankles... Noel’s ankle was injured in the SLU before the tournament so if he played through the last two games I assume he’ll be fine to go with no limitations

It’s gotta help that we played them twice already and know what not to do right?
