I don't think so that baseball article was from 2023. Verbal commits bball is reporting Chance Moore has signed with bona basketball. He looks really good. Not quite as confusing as having two Jay Adams on same roster. yeah, remember that. The one that was suppose to be really good never played. Imagine if they both played the whole game-would have been really confusing.

Guys with two years of eligibility is where it's at... I know it's a risk, but the only way to understand the cult that is Bonaventure is to be here for multiple years... I would hope that Schmidt and company are searching for those kinds of players who won't just jump ship again for their senior seasons.

Two years is the best option to build and develop.

I fear this will sound the wrong note, because I like what I’ve read about this kid and am excited about him as a Bonnie, and I agree two years eligibility is a plus. But I find this signing curious - a kid from Georgia who played at a school and in a conference with which Bonas has no connection? I wonder how this connection was made and why he chose Bonas. I realize we are no longer just a regional Program, but this still strikes me as a curious signing. Maybe I am off track with my questions, I don’t know, but I think it would be interesting to learn how this came about.

SBUnfurled @sbunfurled The Bonnies get their first commitment of the offseason: Chance Moore, a 6-6 Wing F, has chosen SBU.
The Georgia native played 67 games over three seasons at Arkansas and Missouri St., averaging 10.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 2024. Moore has one year of eligibility remaining.

One year or two years … it probably does not matter with Moore. He has been at three high schools and three colleges over the last 7 years. Does that sound like a player who is going to be loyal for two seasons?
At this point my mindset is WTF. This is how players are taking advantage of the new rules — good for them. Most of us would do the same thing. It’s like job-hopping to chase a few extra grand. Welcome to 2024.
We get a decent player — good for us — for one year because there is really no better option or plan. We cannot sell kids on our “player development” track record. Not when there are dollars at stake and an easy-out option.
It is up to Schmidt to adjust his style/playbook to accommodate and take advantage of guys like Moore who will be here for one year. Hopefully our young guys (Kaba, Rose, Thompson, etc) will be loyal for a couple years, but none of us know. Schmidt cannot ensure that either. I’m sure he thought Assa and Barry were keepers. I certainly did.
I don’t like the new reality. It is difficult to get emotionally invested in these guys and the program we all love. Last season was the perfect example and likely a good predictor of the future. It is what it is … you try to get talented players who will be at SBU for one season, and hope to make it work.
Glad to have our first transfer committed. Hate how this all looks and feels.

He’s got 2 years. His coach was let go, so he entered the portal like everyone else when that happens
Looks like he can score in a variety of ways. Very nice fit on the wing in this offense.

Chuck's link provides the best and most detailed analysis of a player's game I have ever seen.
At Bona I don't see him taking 54% of his shots from beyond the arc. He is a long, athletic player who finishes well with his left and plays good D.

Chuck TY for that video. To me he’s gonna have to up his game a notch to play A-10, and up it two notches for what we need as a team.
He does show a good stroke on his 3s. Wonder why his percentage not higher.
He does appear to be a legit 6’5”

Highlight reels are always suspect, but this video is of college play, not high school, so I think it is more valuable. His % from three is not that great, but in this video he is usually shooting and hitting from very deep. Also, he slashes to the hoop well and should draw a lot of fouls in the A10. The fact he gets to the hoop should give him a lot of and-one opportunities. And he shows very quick hands on D, including good hops as a shot blocker and rebounder. It may be a highlight video, but at least he had plenty of plays to put in the video.

Last season CHANCE did not get to the line a lot (58 of 94) converting on 62%.
Taking 54% of his shots from deep provided less opportunities to get to the stripe. His TREY Shooting (30%) and 62% from the line indicates shooting is not his strength.
Athleticism, length, D (29 blks), attacking the rim and put backs are his strong points.

Chance Moore — As sophomore started just 3 of 31 games, 21.8 minutes per game (barely half of a game) was 6th in minutes played. — As junior started 20 of 31 games, 26.9 minutes was 4th in minutes played. Considering Chance limited playing time, following stats are for 40 minutes played. — 3 point shooting is a concern. Chance likes shooting 3s (2nd for both seasons in attempted 3s) and made just 34.4% as a sophomore and a horrible 29.5% as a junior. Daryl Banks struggled with his shot this season making 34.4% of his 3s, which is identical to Chance best season. — Very impressive in getting to the line. This season he attempted 4.5 FTA per game (even more as a sophomore with 5.0 per game). This season Mika and Chuck averaged 3.6 FTA per game. Unlike Mika and Chuck, Chance struggles at the line making 61.7% of his free throws. Excluding Barry, next lowest was Yann at 70.7%. — Solid shooting inside of the arc. Chance makes 54.4% of his 2 point attempts, which is better than Chad this season making 53.3%. — Solid rebounder averaging 5.7 rebounds per game. Only Missouri State’s 2 bigs (6’9”) averaged more rebounds per game. — Very impressive with block shots for a 6’5” player. 2nd on the team with 29 blocks (6’9” center had more). With 18 blocks Yann and Barry were tied for 2nd in blocks (behind Chad). Overall Chance appears to be a solid player inside the arc with his shooting, rebounding and block shots. 3 point shooting is a weakness. Difficult to understand why he attempted more 3 pointers (149) than 2 point shots (130). Chance appears to be a solid addition, but he needs to realize his game is near the basket and NOT shooting 3 pointers. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/missouri-state/men/2024.htmlwww.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/st-bonaventure/men/2024.html

I like your assessment, but even though he has a few deficiencies and has played for 2 other teams and has now real connetion with Bona's or the A10 I think we should give him one more chance to show case his talents!
